TrailFlicks: Film Nights with Hike NS
Join Hike NS in November for its TrailFlicks fundraiser where we’ll watch amateur short films by or about local outdoor adventurers. Tickets are $17 to $20. Popcorn is included and there are door prizes provided by The Trail Shop. Locations include Bible Hill (Nov. 14), Antigonish (Nov. 15), Mahone Bay (Nov. 21) and Halifax (Nov. 22).

Guided Hike for Blind & Partially Sighted Hikers: Nov.16
Join Hike NS in Cole Harbour on November 16 for a free guided hike for blind and partially sighted hikers and their guests, including bus transportation. It is supported by the NS Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.

Exploring Beyond the Trail with Benoit Lalonde: Nov. 27
Taking place on November 27 at MEC Halifax, Hike Nova Scotia and Mountain Equipment Company will host a talk by Benoit Lalonde, Exploring Beyond the Trail: A Workshop on Finding Hidden Waterfalls and Natural Treasures. It is supported by the NS Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage and Mountain Equipment Company. This is a free event but registration is required here.

Call for Winter Guided Events
Deadline: December 14
Hike Nova Scotia invites groups across NS to partner with it on delivering guided hike, walk or snowshoe events in winter 2026. Hike NS will help promote events and provide a how-to guide and trail prizes to give away. If your municipality, First Nation or organization can organize a hike, walk or snowshoe event (or already plan to host one), please register your event by December 14, 2025 for events between January 16 and March 15, 2026.

NS Youth, Nature & Wellbeing Survey
The Outdoor Health Team at Dal -housie University has launched its Nova Scotia Youth, Nature, and Wellbeing Survey for NS youth ages 13-18 about their experiences, feelings, barriers and facilitators towards accessing nature. The results will help inform others how to best support youth in accessing nature. Participants could win one of 23 e-gift cards.

Once again, with a proposal by a golf course developer to encroach on West Mabou Beach Provincial Park, it’s not just this park at risk. If it goes through, other parks and protected areas could face a similar fate.

Save Sandy Lake and Birch Cove-Blue Mountain
Help protect two of the HRM's vital greenspaces, Sandy Lake and Blue Mountain-Birch Cove Lakes, from irresponsible proposed development. Learn more about these issues here. HRM is hosting two open houses to engage with the public on proposed plans. The Sandy Lake event is on Nov. 12 in Bedford. The Blue Mountain-Birch Cove Lakes event is Nov. 19 in Halifax. The Ecology Action Centre will host two free webinars in advance of the open houses, to delve deeper into the issues on Nov. 9 and 10.
