From the Principal's Desk

As we head into the first full week of February, we are excited about our One School, One Book Program, sponsored by our Hilliard PTA.  The kick-off is February 27th; the book title and all the books will be distributed.
What is One School, One Book?  It is a program designed to support reading for fun at home with your family.  All four elementary schools in the district will be reading the same book at the same time.  More details will be coming in the weeks ahead.
This week, we have our Pawsitive Tuesday Recognition and Assembly.  Our focus for the month of February will be Thinker and Creativity.  Throughout the month, school staff members will look for students who display these characteristics and nominate them for recognition.
Friday will be another High-Five Raffle.  Our PTA helps to support the High-Five Store four times a year, and the raffle items are donated by staff members each school year.
Magic Gives Back is this coming weekend.  We are hoping for a sold out show.  If you have not bought your tickets yet, now is the time; you don't want to miss out on a great show with your Hilliard family!
Have a great week!
Yours for Kids~ Principal Tucker
PTA Artist in Resid ence
February 6 ,7, 8 and 13,14 and 15 th  during art classes
Engelhart (right) working with Mark Mothersbaugh (left)
Casey Engelhart will be joining us as our February Artist in Resident. Casey is from Akron Ohio.  Casey recently received his BFA in Printmaking from Kent State University and plans on attending Graduate school in the near future as he continues to pursue art as a passion and career. His most notable collaboration is having the opportunity to work with artist Mark Mothersbaugh for his Myopia show, as well as creating a graffiti mural at Inema Arts Center in Rwanda, Africa. Casey looks to push his limitations and expand his horizons through art in as many ways as possible. Casey is excited to come to Hilliard to show our students the art of printmaking and design. Students will work as individuals to learn the techniques and then as a whole to create a memorable mural for our school.
