Educational Equity Advisory Committee Meeting

In accordance with SB 732, HSD has formed an Educational Equity Advisory Committee (EEAC) to advise and inform the Superintendent and School Board on issues related to equity and corresponding practices. The next meeting of the EEAC takes place on Monday, Mar. 20 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Administration Center Board Room. Public seating is available.

Student Services Parent Coffee Chat

Our Student Services team will hold a Parent Coffee Chat from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 22 at the HSD Administration Center (3083 NE 49th Pl.). Childcare and Spanish interpretation are available. If you need interpretation in another language or have questions, please contact Melissa Merritt at 503-844-1441.

Bond Update: Tamarack Elementary

It’s beginning to look like a school! In a progression from the west side to the east side of the building, sheetrocking is covering classroom walls as sheathing and masonry go up on the exterior. Framing for the concrete gym benches is in place. The play field is about to be prepped for laying of synthetic turf in mid-April. Stay updated at hillsboro-bond.org.

Teen Market Applications Open

The Washington County Chamber’s popular Teen Market program for high school entrepreneurs is accepting applications through Friday, Mar. 24. Students in the program receive business counseling and have the opportunity to sell their products at local markets, community events, and festivals. Learn more and apply on their website.

Oregon Health Plan Workshops in Spanish

HSD and Project Access Now have partnered up to present workshops to help families enroll in the Oregon Health Plan. The workshops will be in Spanish and offered from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Apr. 5 and 19 at McKinney Elementary School. Advance registration required.

Homelessness Survey: Updates to Camping Rules

The City of Hillsboro is updating camping rules to comply with federal and state laws that recognize the need for community members experiencing homelessness to sleep and rest on public property. The City is listening and engaging with community members to inform the City Council’s updates.
