One way to reduce bullying behavior is to help students create positive peer relationships. This year, ten of our elementary schools are piloting a new structure called Morning Meeting and utilizing a set of resources from Sanford Harmony to help develop respectful environments where students feel valued and ready to learn. Both the Morning Meeting protocol and Sanford Harmony materials are examples of social emotional learning (SEL) approaches that help students model and practice the types of skills that will be valuable throughout their lives. The HSD Board of Directors comprises seven elected members serving four-year terms and three student representatives serving a one-year term.
