 Family COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
HSD and OHSU are partnering to provide several family COVID-19 vaccine clinics over the coming months. Available vaccines include:
  • Pfizer pediatric dose (two-dose series; ages 5-11)
  • Pfizer adult dose (two-dose series; ages 12 and older; can be given as a booster shot for those 18 and older)
  • Johnson & Johnson (single dose; ages 18 and older; can be given as a booster shot)

Time: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Place: Witch Hazel Elementary School, 4950 SE Davis Rd., Hillsboro

Date: Tuesday, December 14, 2021 & Tuesday, January 11, 2022

Important Information:
  • Safe and free COVID-19 vaccine
  • No appointment, ID or Social Security number required, although some form of identification will make registration easier. 
  • If you have already received one or more vaccine doses, please bring your card with you, if possible. 
  • Children under 15 must have parent/guardian permission to receive the vaccine; if a parent/guardian will not be accompanying the child, the adult with the child must have a signed permission form (English, Spanish) from the parent/guardian.
  • Staff who speak Spanish will be available on site; assistance in languages besides English and Spanish is available upon request. Ask any staff member if you need an interpreter or accommodations. 
  • Contact HSD Family Health Navigator Nico Rueda at 971-301-7258 with questions.

Congratulations are in order for Laura Nicholas, 4th grade teacher at Ladd Acres Elementary School. After being nominated by a parent in the spring for her outstanding efforts during what was a very challenging year, FOX 12 and the Oregon Freemasons awarded her the Classroom of the Month award for November 2021. The award includes both an interview between Laura and reporter Stephanie Kralevich, featured on Good Day Oregon, and a fulfilled $1,000 Amazon Wish List for her classroom...

Bond Update: Groner Beam Signing, Dec. 13-15
Be a part of Groner’s history! Members of the Groner K-8 community – especially current and former students, staff and families – are invited to sign new beams that will be installed in the school gymnasium roof as part of current upgrades. The beams will be available for community signing from Dec. 13-15, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (after school).
Dual Language Family Newsletter
HSD is pleased to present the first edition of our Quarterly Family Dual Language Newsletter, featuring important information and highlights about the District’s Dual Language program, staff spotlights, tips for multilingual families, and more.
High School Oratorical Contest
Our local American Legion Post No. 6 is hosting a Constitutional Speech Contest for high school students. The competition takes place Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022; students must contact the Post by Wednesday, Dec. 22, to be assigned a time slot.
OSAC Scholarships and Grants

Life Changer of the Year Nominations
LifeChanger of the Year is a national recognition program that honors K-12 public school educators and employees annually. Through Sunday, Dec. 31, every K-12 school employee nominated for LifeChanger of the Year will receive a $25 donation in their name to an educational nonprofit, automatic eligibility to win one of 18 awards and cash prizes up to $10,000, and more. Nominations are free and can be done anonymously, if preferred.

The HSD Board of Directors comprises seven elected members serving four-year terms and three student representatives serving a one-year term. Board members are community volunteers and do not receive compensation for their work. Board members establish policy based on Oregon and Federal laws governing schools.
