On Saturday, Dec. 17 Glencoe High School’s lobby was transformed into a winter wonderland to welcome families in the Glencoe feeder group to the First Annual Glencoe Toy Shoppe. The long-time dream of Activities and Leadership Director Tom Stephens, the Toy Shoppe was brought to life by his dedicated students. It provided an opportunity for families who needed some extra assistance for the holidays an opportunity to come “shop” for toys and clothing for their children, and to receive a box of food. In addition to racks of donated new toys and a clothing corner, there was free hot cocoa and a wrapping station staffed by student volunteers. In all, approximately 120 families participated, representing more than 300 students. Over 100 bags of clothes, 140 boxes of food, and 700 toys were donated and “infinite memories were made,” notes Stephens. Way to go, GHS Leadership! Thank you for caring about our community and for your generosity of spirit. You make us proud to be HSD! See More Photos. |
