#Giving Tuesday

The holidays are upon us - a time for reflection, gratitude, and connection. Unfortunately for some, the season isn’t all about joy as uncertainty around resources increases stress and anxiety. The need in our community is great, so we encourage you to consider taking action on Tuesday, Nov. 29, for #GivingTuesday

Created in 2012 as a way to inspire people to do good, #GivingTuesday has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

It is held each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, amid the traditional frenzy of consumer deals and sales. Nonprofit organizations like the Hillsboro Schools Foundation, Community Action Organization, Hillsboro Elks, Oregon Food Bank, United Way of the Columbia-Willamette, and many others are working tirelessly to support HSD students and families, as well as others in need in our community. Please consider a donation to one or more of these organizations this Tuesday and beyond. Thank you!

Featured Staff Member: Bus Driver David Battrick

On Friday, Nov. 18 Evergreen Middle School students were dressing up “Fancy” for a spirit day. While outside greeting students as they arrived, the Counseling team snapped a picture of driver David Battrick helping a student tie his tie. Principal O.J. Gulley shared: “I wish this kind of care and compassion for all of our students because even the small things are what help students to thrive. We are about community and caring for one another and this is a perfect example of our entire HSD village caring for our students.” Thank you for working hard to make these meaningful connections, David! You make us Proud to be HSD!
