Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year | |
The 2022-23 school year is almost here and we can’t wait to get started!
If you missed your child’s back-to-school packet or would simply like to access an electronic version, you can find it on the Back-to-School page of our website.
This week, staff will be reaching out to families to establish an initial connection and see if there are any resources or supports their student needs to be successful. Families are also encouraged to fill out the District’s resource request form if they would prefer to put their request in writing.
Many families likely have questions about how we are approaching COVID and other health-related topics. In short, the Hillsboro School District will maintain many of the mitigation strategies that were in place last school year, such as reinforcing good health hygiene habits of frequent hand washing and sanitizing, covering your coughs and sneezes, and staying home when you are ill. Some strategies have been relaxed and will be optional for most students and staff members, such as mask wearing, set amounts of physical distancing, and cohorting. Still other strategies that were either put in place or modified solely because of the pandemic (e.g. COVID dashboard, staff pop-up rapid testing clinic) have been phased out as they are not sustainable long-term. Learn more in the full article on our website.
Hot News is produced and emailed to HSD families and staff each week school is in session. Please add the address to your “safe sender” list to make sure you always receive the latest issue. From time to time, it may be necessary to use herbicides and/or pesticides to treat pests on our school or district grounds. These products are never applied on a routine basis or for purely aesthetic purposes; they are only used after all other available options have been exhausted and/or proven to be ineffective, or when the pest presents an imminent safety issue. Communication will be sent to affected school or district communities in advance, and a notification will be posted at the site of the application to enhance student, staff, and community safety. Learn more on the Integrated Pest Management page of our website.
