Bullying Prevention Month Focus: Everyone is Welcome
Back in August, HSD administrators met virtually for their annual back-to-school kick-off meeting. In advance of the meeting, a care package of items that included a headband and some sidewalk chalk was delivered to each administrator’s home. Administrators were asked to put on the headband, use the sidewalk chalk to create inspirational messages, and take pictures to be shared with their students, staff, and families. The headband is symbolic of belonging to a team, and on HSD’s team - everyone is welcome! We saved the images until October’s Bullying Prevention Month to help us drive home the point that we are all here for you, and that a little kindness and support goes a long way.

Nonprofit organization PACER has created a series of videos to help students understand the importance of making others feel welcome as part of their “Include Someone, Make a Difference” campaign. This campaign was created in partnership with Cartoon Network’s Stop Bullying: Speak Up initiative to inspire kids across the country to include someone and stop bullying before it starts.
