Featured Students: Imlay’s “If I Were Mayor” Contest Winners
Congratulations to Imlay Elementary School 4th graders Kaide P., Maliah T., and Elias S. for taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, respectively, in Hillsboro’s “If I Were Mayor” contest. Each year, the Oregon Mayors Association hosts the contest in three categories: Students in grades 4 and 5 participate in a poster contest; students in grades 6-8 compete in an essay contest; and students in grades 9-12 complete digital media presentations describing what they would do if they were mayor of their hometown. Cities hold local contests and forward their first place winning entries to the state-level competition, winners of which are announced in late July. For their top finishes, the students each had certificates and gifts from the City delivered to their homes, and were recognized at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 18. Way to go, Kaide, Maliah, and Elias! You make us Proud to be HSD!
