Meet our current Ground Up Baristas: Glencoe sophomores Samantha Parra and Susana Roman Marquez; and Liberty senior Karina Garcia Campuzano. This semester, they’ve been learning how to use their fancy, commercial-grade Italian espresso machine and coffee grinder - along with an assortment of syrups, powders, and other key ingredients - to make a variety of coffee drinks as part of their unique Marketing Lab experience. National School Nurse Day

May 6-12, 2022, is National Nurses Week and Wednesday, May 11, is School Nurse Day! We are so grateful for and appreciative of our district nurses, LPNs, and health room assistants who always provide amazing support, but have truly gone above and beyond over the course of the pandemic. Free COVID-19 Vaccines and Food Boxes

Please plan to attend the free Family COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic at Tobias Elementary School on Tuesday, May 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Clinic is open to the public; safe and free COVID-19 vaccines provided to those 5 and older. Primary elections take place on Tuesday, May 17. If you are registered to the Democratic or Republican party, you may vote in this election (voter pamphlet). Please note that ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day, or delivered to the Elections Office or an Official Dropsite by 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Bond Update: Hare Field Pipe Replacement
|
Work to replace aging domestic water pipes in Hare Field’s locker room area will start this week and is expected to run through early July. The locker room construction area will be off-limits; please stay outside of the temporary fencing. Portable toilets will be made available. Project updates will be posted to hillsboro-bond.org.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office invites all community members to their annual K-9 Trials from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at the Hillsboro Stadium. Bring the whole family to watch Oregon’s best police K-9 teams compete for the prize of “Top Dog!” Free entry beginning at 10 a.m.; please leave pets at home.

District Retirement Celebration

You are cordially invited to attend our 2022 District Retirement Celebration from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, in the South Meadows Middle School library. Washington County Proposed 2022-23 Budget
|
Washington County’s proposed $1.6 billion total budget is now available online for public review and comment. The spending plan represents a changing financial landscape for the organization as it emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, including steps to better align constrained revenues with community needs. The HSD Board of Directors comprises seven elected members serving four-year terms and three student representatives serving a one-year term. Board members are community volunteers and do not receive compensation for their work. Board members establish policy based on Oregon and Federal laws governing schools.
