Hillsboro School District Extends Spring Break in Response to COVID-19 Concerns
The Hillsboro School District is extending its Spring Break in accordance with the Governor’s order that schools across the state of Oregon close between Monday, March 16th, and Tuesday, March 31st. Students will be expected back in school on Wednesday, April 1st, unless further guidance is provided. Meals will be available to all children ages 1-18 at a variety of sites around the District each day this week, as well as on Monday and Tuesday, March 30 and 31. On Monday, March 16, the meal will be lunch only, but every other day the meal will include breakfast and lunch items. Distribution times are 10 a.m. for elementary school students, 11 a.m. for middle school students, and noon for high school students. Children must be present to receive a meal. At this time, the District will not be implementing distance learning; however, a distance learning plan may be implemented if the closure lasts beyond March 31. On Monday, March 9, Mooberry Elementary School held a schoolwide grand opening celebration for its new gym. Led by Liberty High School's drumline, Mooberry students, staff and families entered the building for the very first time, expressing awe and surprise at the size and beautiful interior.

The HSD Board of Directors comprises seven elected members serving four-year terms and three student representatives serving a one-year term. Board members are community volunteers and do not receive compensation for their work. Board members establish policy based on Oregon and Federal laws governing schools.
