Hillsboro School Board Announces Superintendent Finalists

After a months-long process involving an outside consulting firm and a nationwide search, the Hillsboro School Board has announced its three finalists for the Superintendent position: Jon Franco of Portland Public Schools; Rita Raichoudhuri, most recently of Kalamazoo Public Schools in Michigan; and Travis Reiman of the Hillsboro School District. 


Each of the finalists will participate in a full day of school visits and meetings with various stakeholder groups, including an open session for the community. 


The community forums will be held in the Administration Center Board Room, located at 3083 NE 49th Place, Hillsboro 97124, room 100. People are welcome to attend in person or virtually via Zoom.

Junior Achievement Discovery Center Groundbreaking

On Tuesday, Apr. 4 members of the nonprofit organization Junior Achievement (JA) gathered with representatives from the City of Hillsboro, Hillsboro School District, Northwest Regional Education Service District, and local businesses to commemorate the official groundbreaking for the new JA Discovery Center that will open this fall. In November 2022, the Hillsboro City Council approved a lease with JA for 12,420 square feet of space on the second floor of the Hillsboro Civic Center for the Center, which will host JA’s two signature programs: JA BizTown and JA Finance Park. The Center will provide access to students in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, and Washington Counties, and is the 44th of its kind to open in the U.S. SEE MORE PICS

The next meeting of the Black Village Family Advisory Committee will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. via Zoom on Monday, Apr. 10. City of Hillsboro Kicks off Earth Week


Bring the family to the Walters Cultural Arts Center to kick off Earth Week with Jessa Campbell and the Saplings! Educational Equity Advisory Committee Meeting

In accordance with SB 732, HSD has formed an Educational Equity Advisory Committee (EEAC) to advise and inform the Superintendent and School Board on issues related to equity and corresponding practices. The next meeting of the EEAC takes place on Monday, Apr. 17 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. both virtually and in the Administration Center Board Room. Public seating is available.

Career and College Pathways Steering Committee Meeting


Join us for our Spring CCP Steering Committee meeting from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 20. We will start off in the Administration Center Board Room, but will then travel to schools to see CCP in action.
