Elementary Career Kits

The latest expansion of our Career and College Pathways work is ensuring that elementary students are exposed to and gain awareness of the opportunities that await them as they progress through their PK-12 experience. Over the next three years, this will be accomplished by providing every elementary school with age-appropriate career kits for each grade level. Included in the kits are activities related to the career, culturally-relevant texts with diverse characters, and career-related realia. The Hillsboro Schools Foundation (HSF) is partnering with HSD to make these kits a reality, and are calling their fundraising effort ¡Imagina Tu Aventura! (Imagine Your Adventure!). Featured Staff Member: Oregon Teacher of the Year Regional Finalist Laury Rodriguez



Congratulations are in order for Liberty High School Math and Science teacher Laury Rodriguez. She has been named one of sixteen regional finalists for the 2022-23 Oregon Teacher of the Year Award! A Liberty High School student herself, Laury returned to the school as a family outreach liaison and bilingual assistant in 2015 after graduating from Portland State. Since earning her Master’s degree in 2019, she has served Liberty students by teaching Math, Science, Dual Language, and AVID. Bond Update: ES29 Structural Steel Going Up


Beginning last week, steel posts are now being erected on the ES29 foundation, starting the building of the school structure itself. Keep track via cameras on site that provide near real-time views of the work on the site; updated every 15 minutes, you can go back in time or view the time-lapse. Project photos and other archives are also posted to hillsboro-bond.org.

HSD Pathways Center


HSD’s Pathways Center on the Oak Street Campus is a place where students can access educational options to serve their unique needs for graduation, careers, and college. Check out this video to learn more.

Black Village Family Advisory Committee


The Black Village Family Advisory Committee (BVFAC) welcomes all families with students who identify in whole or in part as Black/African-American/African to learn, grow, and unite to build a better community for our children. Application Window Extended for Community Curriculum Advisory Committee


HSD is currently seeking additional applicants for our Community Curriculum Advisory Committee (CCAC) and has extended the submission deadline to Tuesday, Oct. 18. Learn more and access the application on the Get Involved page of our website.

Bus Drivers Needed


HSD is in need of bus drivers! We offer starting wages of $23.58 to $26.80 per hour, paid holidays and training, 7-hour positions with benefits, reimbursed DMV fees, and more! Services Offered for Talented and Gifted Students

Portland Gem and Mineral Show


The Portland Regional Gem & Mineral Show is the largest of its kind in the Portland metro area, featuring demonstrations, exhibits, a fossil discovery area, kids activities, and more. Check it out at the Wingspan Event Center in Hillsboro Sep. 30 through Oct. 2. Admission is $7 for a weekend pass; ages 12 and under are free.
