What's Happening at Hillsdale | |
Knights Families,
So we were working in the Concessions on Wednesday, thinking about all that happens in there...let us share some fun facts.
*The Trailer (aka Knight Rider) sells food during home football and flag football games, as well as a track invitational. Even though these three sports use the trailer, the proceeds from the sales made benefit ALL of athletics. Flag Football Concessions
*Volunteering for concessions takes NO experience, but has lots of benefits. A free meal, a way to meet other Knight families, and saves you on gas---drop your student off at a sporting event, sign up to help with sales, and then bring your student home. (No back and forth driving) Sign up here Concessions
*Our annual A Knight 4 the Cure uses the Knight Rider for some of its food sales. Interested in donating food or helping with sales for the event? Click here AK4TC AK4TC is a school and community fundraiser that splits proceeds 5 ways. (each class AND a breast cancer charity will share monies made) Please consider supporting the event by volunteering or donating!
The morning of Friday, October 25, PTSO and Leadership will be co-hosting a Pink Breakfast for faculty and staff to kick off our A Knight 4 the Cure event that will be happening later on Friday afternoon. We are looking for breakfast donations. Here is the link to donate Pink Breakfast Donations. Doors open at 5:00pm with the games starting at 6:00.
Speaking of A Knight 4 the Cure (AK4TC), which will be on Friday, October 25 this year...we are looking for volunteers to help the day of the event--starting with set-up, ending with clean-up, and all the times in-between. Click here AK4TC
Today, we are wrapping up Pride Week with Coming Out Day. There have been so many spirit activities through the week that have supported our LGBTQIA+ students and those who support them.
Here are some things to check off your To Do List for the week:
- Purchase a Yearbook (flyer below)
- Plan to attend HHS production of Cabaret and purchase tickets (dates/purchasing info below) You are also invited to view Cabaret the Movie next Friday, October 18 in the HHS Theater (scroll to the end for details)
- Support the Foundation (or have your business donate to them) to help maintain all that they do
- Make sure to purchase your Family Athletics Pass (info below)
- Remind your student to download the Minga App for easier entrance to SMUHSD events and activities (details below)
- Consider volunteering for one of the many upcoming events/causes at HHS (AK4TC, Peace Pantry, Career Day, Concessions)--all details below
Lastly--although we are just into the 2024-2025 school year, next Thursday, October 17, we will be hosting our 8th Grade Family Knight. This is a great opportunity for current 8th graders and their families to visit HHS as they plan for high school*. (students should be entering high school the 2025-2026 school year)
Have a fabulous week and we hope to see you around campus!

Stanford Sleep Study
Are you a teen with a desire to go to bed earlier, or the parent of a teen?
We are conducting a study to determine whether a novel behavioral and light intervention can help you go to bed earlier. The study is 10 weeks in the Fall and another 10 weeks in the Winter. During the first part of the study, you will receive information about sleep in a series of short videos. You’ll also be given a special light that you will keep in your room that will help you get to sleep earlier. The light works automatically while you are sleeping and will be used throughout the study. Participation is completely voluntary, and you will be compensated ($500) for your time.
If you are interested in participating, you can click here to determine your eligibility or visit our website for more information. If you have any questions, you can contact the Research Coordinator at denizkes@stanford.edu or 650-732-6823.
For complaints, concerns, or participant's rights, contact 1-866-680-2906.
See this flyer for more information.
