Hillsdale Families,
Spirit is over...thanks to all who showed their school spirit. Special thanks to the Leadership Students, Cheer, Dance Ensemble, Folklorico Dancers, Spirited Faculty, and Students who made the week successful--and one of the many reasons we LOVE Hillsdale.
This coming week is no less exciting than last---we've got Open House, a BBQ, Shakespeare, and Relays!
We can't talk about the coming week without acknowledging this week's big games for Mens' Soccer and Girls' Basketball...both teams fought hard, but both ended with losses. We are so proud of the seasons both teams had. Go Knights!! Congratulations to our other Winter Sports for a great season.
Thursday is Hillsdale's Open House--a night where families are invited to come and see their students' classwork. Families are welcome to walk to their students' classrooms and see work presented in many different forms. The students and teachers work hard to prepare to "show off" all that they've been doing! (See Agenda here)
You may be thinking--ugh, ONE more thing to do--I'm rushing from work, dinner needs to be made, so I don't have time to get to Open House. Well, never fear--we've got that obstacle handled for you. The Sophomore Class is hosting a BBQ in the Great Court where you can purchase a hamburger, cheeseburger, or grilled cheese. You can save time and preorder here or purchase at the event (limited quantities)
Friday will be a minimum day for students, but make sure to come back on campus for Shakespeare in Love's opening night! The cast, crew, and Drama Boosters have been hard at work and we KNOW it's going to be a phenomenal performance. You can purchase tickets here Don't miss out!!
Saturday March 14, is Hillsdale's annual Fighting Knights Relays. This is a day of Track and Field events hosted by Hillsdale with many schools from all over participating. We need YOUR help to make this event a success. We are looking for volunteers to help work concessions throughout the day. Click here to volunteer or for more information.
Did you know that the Athletics Boosters are having an auction at the end of the month? This event supports ALL teams...and no need to be an athletic family to attend. All HHS families are welcome to attend--it is always such a fun evening!!
It's Tax Season...and we have a write-off for your next year's taxes. Donate to the HHSF. A generous donor has offered to match every dollar donated during the month of March.
Lastly, Spring is upon us...baseball season in the sun! Our Knights Baseball team will be playing Carlmont at Oracle Park! Sounds like a dream!! Details here
Have a great weekend and we hope to see everyone this week!! (Hopefully at the PTSO meeting...)

Hillsdale Knights Varsity Baseball at Oracle Park
Friday April 10 @ 5pm
We are excited to share a special opportunity for our student-athletes and families! The Hillsdale Knights Varsity Baseball team will take on the Carlmont Scots at Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, on Friday, April 10 @ 5pm. This is an incredible chance for our players to compete on a Major League field and for our community to enjoy high school baseball in a truly memorable setting.
⚾ Important: Ticket Requirement to Make This Event Happen
In order for this opportunity to take place, Hillsdale must sell a minimum of 1,000 tickets to one of the 12 designated San Francisco Giants regular season games. Reaching this goal is what secures our ability to play at Oracle Park.
🎟 How Tickets Work
To attend the high school game on April 10:
• You must purchase a ticket to one of the 12 designated regular season Giants games through https://sfgiants.turnstyle.fan/giants-hillsdale-hs/events
• Each (1) Giants ticket purchased = One (1) complimentary ticket to the April 10 high school baseball game.
• Giants tickets must be purchased before April 10 to receive the complimentary high school game ticket.
• Please purchase enough Giants tickets for all family members and friends who plan to attend the April 10 game.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for our players and our school community. We encourage everyone to support the team by purchasing tickets and helping us reach our 1,000-ticket goal.
Thank you for your support—we look forward to seeing you at Oracle Park on April 10! ⚾

Empowerment Through Action at Hillsdale
Peace Pantry ~ Community Garden ~ Community Closet

March 2026
"What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead."
~ Nelson Mandela

Hillsdale Community,
We can see early signs of spring beginning to emerge. The peach trees are starting to blossom in our Community Garden. The days are growing longer and daylight savings is right around the corner. Our Neighborhood Chef PJ delivers his annual homegrown seedlings to our green house. HHS Alum, Dana Yates Sahae, who is running for San Mateo City Council, stopped by to visit and learn more about the food insecurity and the high cost of living so many of our students and families face on a daily basis. Our Community Closet is launching their 3rd Annual Project Prom Clothing Drive to ensure students have access to Prom attire.
However, the one constant regardless of the season, is our dedicated volunteers who give their time at our Community Garden, Community Closet and Peace Pantry. It is Michael and Lori Ragan, from our incredibly supportive Beresford Neighborhood showing up each Friday to volunteer at our Peace Pantry. It is HHS alumni parent & neighbor Phil Carter dropping off lemons and volunteering in our garden. It is the steady leadership of ETA Board member Alyssa Morimoto who works quietly behind the scenes at our Community Closet, Peace Pantry and ETA Development Team. It is biology teacher, Ms. Lum-Ku, showing up to the garden after a long day of teaching and working with our dedicated Garden Leadership Team of Yvonne Hsiung, Shin Hsieh, Renee Hall, Kathy Steul and Lauren Mansfield to ensure our thriving garden continues to support families. There are so many stories of volunteers (see photos below of these amazing folks) who find their way to this important Hillsdale community service and intentional support that makes us full of gratitude and hope!
This spring we welcome new volunteers to join our efforts. Whether you are a current Hillsdale parent, alumni parent, neighbor or member of our community, please know your support is needed and appreciated. Our advice is to simply stop by on a Friday morning at 7:00am to the stadium parking lot to jump in and learn more. There are also links and ways to sign up below.

ETA Career Exploration Committee (Still Looking for Mentors)
For the last few months, our juniors have been writing their resumes, preparing for their mock interviews and attending a series of career skills presentations. On Thursday, February 12th in the HHS Library, our ETA juniors came prepared, dressed for success, grew their network, practiced their skills and HAD FUN! They are excited to meet with a mentor and search for jobs, internships or volunteer opportunities for the summer to begin their career journey. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers, and special shout out to the ETA Career Exploration Committee-Tony Chang, Kim Overton, Sonie Lau and Katy Korsmeyer!
All of our ETA Juniors and Seniors have been encouraged to seek summer career opportunities by applying for jobs and internships. We are about to roll out our ETA job board and have encouraged our students to be paired up with a mentor. Dr. Korsmeyer has reached out to about 10 volunteers who have begun the clearance process to become an official mentor. If you are interested in becoming a mentor please complete this short form or if you have any questions or comments about any of these programs or events, please email Ed Canda at ecanda@etahhs.org. Thank you for your support!
