Hillsdale Families,

We hope that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving time! Today December starts, and there's always a lot going on and so many ways to support Hillsdale throughout the season.

Did you know that if you donate to The Foundation or Peace Pantry, your donations are tax deductible?!? It's a great way to give AND receive a deduction. Both offer payment plans -or- single pledge options. Both directly support our students and community in immeasurable ways. Foundation donations help to fund fantastic programming that each student benefits from. Peace Pantry donations help Hillsdale families who are experiencing food insecurity, as well as supporting them with essential items (toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc.) Both The Foundation and Peace Pantry depend on you to be successful and appreciate any support you can give. Take the district's Panorama Survey. Your participation helps direct HHS to which academic and enrichment programs are needed and how to improve programs that are already in place. Secure Your Spot on Our Mid-Year Donor List – Make Your Gift to the Foundation Fund Today!

Thank you to everyone who’s made their gift to the Foundation Fund for this school year.  Your generous support translates into more than $300,000 raised so far to fund fantastic programming enjoyed by every Hillsdale student.

If you haven’t yet made your gift to the Foundation Fund, and you’d like to be included on our donor list which will be published on our website and in our December e-newsletter that goes out to all Hillsdale families, make sure you donate today! The cut-off date for our mid-year donor list is this Sunday, December 3rd.

Also, are you looking for a holiday gift for the Hillsdale student who has everything? Does your child shrug and give you a dead-eyed stare when you ask what they want for Christmas? Then consider purchasing a seat plaque in Hillsdale’s Auditorium or Little Theater as a present for your student! A seat plaque is a nifty way to commemorate your student’s time at Hillsdale AND support programs like our school’s Small Learning Communities.

Can you help us make an even bigger impact in 2024?

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to our Holiday Giving Campaign this December 1-31 so we can continue to offer support through our Hillsdale Peace Pantry, Community Closet and Community Garden. We are hoping to raise $80,000 to support Hillsdale families in 2024. 

Tax-deductible donations can be made through the Hillsdale Foundation, a 501c3. If your employer does matching gifts, you can double your impact. 

• For $50 a month you can support a Hillsdale family with groceries and essential items from Mi Rancho Market every other week.  
• A pledge of $600 will support a family for the next twelve months.
• A donation of any amount will directly support a Hillsdale family experiencing food insecurity.

Starting today and every Monday until December, we have College and Financial Aid Open Office Hours from 2-3:45. Students are welcome to drop by and ask any questions! I will be in the office, as will at least 1 counselor. All 12th graders are welcome. Please send your student to us; we'd love to support them.

Panorama Survey ~ your opinion matters!

Please take the Panorama Survey today!

The Panorama Survey is issued to parents and guardians, students and staff of the San Mateo Union High School District every year. Each of these groups is given a survey unique to their group. The District is issuing this survey, because we want to know what each of these groups think about their experience in our schools. We want to know your thoughts and opinions on: 

• School culture and climate
• Communications from the District/school to you
• Opportunities for engagement with your school community

It is important that we hear from a variety of diverse individuals. Your responses help to guide our planning for future academic and enrichment programs and help us to address areas where our programs need improvement. The results also help us to support successful initiatives and evaluate and improve those that are not as successful. 

The parent/guardian survey takes about 14 minutes to complete, and can be accessed by visiting: www.smuhsd.org/panorama 

You can take the survey in Spanish - simply select “Spanish” from the drop down menu at the top of the first page of the survey.
