Have You Made Your Student’s Annual Contribution Yet?

We intend for this year to be special for every student and every family, in relationship with our staff. We believe our teachers are the best anywhere and, while our district is generous in supporting our staffing needs, we simply do not have enough allocated resources to meet all of those needs. And that is where the Foundation comes in, to fill this funding shortfall. By contributing to the Foundation Fund, you, as a member of the Hillsdale community, will enable us to close our funding gap.

Please review the online Fall Donation Documents with information on giving to Foundation, PTSO, and the Boosters. As always, your support is essential to

maintaining our SLC model. Students benefit from:

● Reduced class sizes in 9th and 10th grade

● Core teachers and advisor assigned for two consecutive years

● Personalized instruction with teacher/advisor student mentoring

● Rigorous and integrated curriculum including comprehensive projects

Although there is a recommended Foundation donation amount, we ask each family to give what they can to support their student’s education.

For more information, please contact Jennifer Russell at [email protected].

Peace Pantry/Community Garden - Volunteers Needed

Dear Hillsdale Community,

We hope this finds you well and settling into the new school year. Remember to follow our journey with the garden on Instagram at @hhs_community_garden. The 22-23 school year will mark the third year of our Peace Pantry. Every Friday, we continue to support 140 families experiencing food insecurity at Hillsdale and Bridge. Thanks to overwhelming community support, we have raised over $300,000 since the start of the pandemic to combat food insecurity. The news continues to report daily that the Bay Area and San Mateo County as one of the least affordable places to live in the country. Our Hillsdale community has chosen to act in support of our families.

Each Friday, our volunteers go out into the community to deliver groceries to our families or work the emergency food drive through every Friday. In addition, we are also thankful for all of the volunteers who have made our community garden a reality and we are now starting to harvest organic vegetables in support of our families. These volunteer efforts in the garden will now allow us to increase the weekly supply of foods we offer families. A heartfelt thank you to our staff, parents, alumni and friends in the community who have volunteered in our garden and Peace Pantry this summer. However, we need to continue to build our volunteer team so we can continue to address food insecurity in the Hillsdale Community. We need drivers on Fridays to deliver groceries and volunteers in our garden Thursday afternoons. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up below or email Brett Stevenson at [email protected]
