Knights Families,

The HHS PTSO would like to wish you and your loved ones a Happy Thanksgiving holiday. We would like to wish our Co-President, Holly a very happy birthday earlier this week!! We would like to thank the Foundation, Athletics, Dance, Drama, and Music Boosters for their hard work and dedication to their organizations. We would like to thank the HHS Faculty and Staff for their dedication to our students and school. Most importantly, we would like to thank you for your support and being a part of our community.  

Tuesday, in partnership with the Leadership class, we hosted a yummy Pie Party for the faculty and staff. Thanks to all who donated pies and other items to make the event such a success. 

Just a reminder that there is no school Wednesday-Friday of this week. School will resume on Monday, November 27th. 

There is an Alumni Basketball Game tonight!! It's always so much fun to see our Alumni play against our Varsity teams. Who will you be cheering for?? See flyer below for details.

Senior Merchandise Now Available

We are super excited to announce that the senior merchandise is now available for ordering! Choose from the classic T-shirt, a pullover hoodie, and a crewneck sweatshirt! Please visit this link to order directly through the website. (Flyer link)

We are also offering matching sweatpants! Due to the popularity of the sweats, please print the order form (see QR code on flyer) and turn it in to the green box in the dance room (Sabrina's office) with attached payment. Order forms will be accepted through December 1st (there will be no extra sweats ordered) All sweatpants will be passed out at school. (Flyer link)

HHS Community Closet, Garden and Peace Pantry - November

We are approaching the final months of 2023. The days are shorter and the weather is getting cooler. November often marks the month where we give thanks and reflect back on the year. We are thankful for our Hillsdale Community for donating close to $90,000 last December in our Annual Hillsdale Holiday Giving Campaign. Your direct donation to our Holiday Giving Campaign made 2023 a year where Hillsdale families and students felt the support and impact of your donations. Thank You!

Thanks to last year’s Holiday Giving Campaign:

• Our Peace Pantry has provided over 2,600 bags of food/essential items ($65,000)
• We offered a stipend for a Peace Pantry and Community Garden Leads, ($7,500)
• We purchased a Tuff Shed and launched a Community Closet ($10,000). @hhs_community_closet
• Our Community Garden has produced over 1,330 pounds of organic fruits and vegetables - 2023 Harvest Report ($10,000) @hhs_community_garden

We hope that as you reflect back on 2023 you are able to feel good about the direct impact of your financial support on Hillsdale students and families. More than ever, schools are being asked to support students and families beyond the classroom. San Mateo County is one of the most unaffordable places to live in the United States and Hillsdale has evolved to try and meet the needs and challenges of students and families in our community. We hope that as you look ahead to 2024 you consider our Holiday Giving Campaign this December 1-31 so we can continue to offer support through our Hillsdale Peace Pantry, Community Closet and Community Garden.

Starting today and every Monday until December, we have College and Financial Aid Open Office Hours from 2-3:45. Students are welcome to drop by and ask any questions! I will be in the office, as will at least 1 counselor. All 12th graders are welcome. Please send your student to us; we'd love to support them.

Panorama Survey ~ your opinion matters!

Please take the Panorama Survey today!

The Panorama Survey is issued to parents and guardians, students and staff of the San Mateo Union High School District every year. Each of these groups is given a survey unique to their group. The District is issuing this survey, because we want to know what each of these groups think about their experience in our schools. We want to know your thoughts and opinions on: 

• School culture and climate
• Communications from the District/school to you
• Opportunities for engagement with your school community

It is important that we hear from a variety of diverse individuals. Your responses help to guide our planning for future academic and enrichment programs and help us to address areas where our programs need improvement. The results also help us to support successful initiatives and evaluate and improve those that are not as successful. 

The parent/guardian survey takes about 14 minutes to complete, and can be accessed by visiting: www.smuhsd.org/panorama 

You can take the survey in Spanish - simply select “Spanish” from the drop down menu at the top of the first page of the survey.
