Classroom and Bead Day Ceremonies

The end of the school year brings high emotions and the opportunity for closure and transitioning events. At Hilltop Montessori School, the students and teachers have traditional and evolving ceremonies that each program shares within their classroom community. Each program had their own internal celebration of transitions and then, in the afternoon,  the whole school community came together for Hilltop's Field Day and Bead Ceremony.

Take a look!

Lobby Makeover

Thank you to sculptor and Children's House Parent, Rodrigo Nava, for designing and creating some wonderful new "artwork" for our lobby. The glass piece to the left will be lettered with future award recipients of the Kahn Mason Award for Outstanding Contribution to Hilltop. The large black metal sheet will soon be filled with magnetized Montessori materials creating a "movable" art piece for young and old to enjoy!

The newest addition to the ensemble is a beautiful bench hand crafted by our very own Marco Yunga! The ingrain, he has told us, is reminiscent of his homeland's Andes Mountains. We're so honored to have this little piece of Marco welcoming our guests!

Wanted: Brattleboro Rental Apartment

Are you looking for extra help around the house?
Childcare? Petsitter? House sitter...?

Hi, I'm Katie Reynolds, a Hilltop alumna (class of 2011!) and
a rising junior at Mount Holyoke College,  and I'm seeking: any type of helper's job! Petsitting, house-sitting, childcare, you name it! Get in contact and I'm certain we can work something out.   As a counselor at SummerFun (both last year and this upcoming session) and a substitute in the Children's House, I am experienced in childcare for all ages up from 1.5 years old.   I love animals and have been working as a volunteer farm hand at Farming Connections Inc. in Guilford since 2011. I am perfectly willing to mold my schedule to yours, as long as I can still keep my commitment to my work at Hilltop. Any time of the day, any amount of time, I can be there!

If you or someone you know is interested in my services as a house-sitter, childcare provider, or petsitter (and it doesn't matter what kind of animal!) please contact me, Katie or call 802-451-6822.

A big THANK YOU to Hazel for providing our students and staff with delicious pizza each week!

Many thanks to Brattleboro Tire, 558 Putney Road in Brattleboro for donating
snow tires for our Hilltop van . Please visit Dan and the boys at Brattleboro Tire for your car's needs and be sure to say "Thanks" on Hilltop's behalf.

BUHS Pre-season Soccer Information  2017
While we are at the end of our spring sports season and vacation is coming up, as soccer coaches we are thinking that our fall season is just around the corner.  A preseason meeting is scheduled for the end of this school year for all interested soccer players ( boys and girls), currently in grades 8 through 11. The
Meeting will be  Monday June 12, at 3:30 pm in the BUHS gym.  We encourage you to attend this meeting to get a head start with the administrative paperwork (consent and medical forms), and to get you informed about pre-season, practices and games. Some of you will go away on vacation, some of you will attend different sports camps, but we would like to offer you some local summer soccer possibilities (these listed below are for girls only). Hope you can attend some or all of them, however your schedule lets you!
  1. Every Monday evening, 6-8pm, starting June 26, conditioning and strengthening with Priscilla Svec.  At the Dummerston School field.  Last session August 14.
  2. Every Wednesday, 4:30-6:30pm, conditioning and small-sided games with high school coaches at SIT soccer fields, starting June 28, ending August 9.

Graduating Hilltop Eighth Graders, Marley Hathaway and Daniel Snyder are counselors for this upcoming camp!  For more information  email or call 802-257-0888.
