Classroom Spotlight: Mrs. Trudell

Mrs. Trudell’s students are enjoying becoming active readers of texts. Reading involves a lot of thinking. We call it READINKING. It is modeled and practiced so that children can interact and connect deeply with the text. This will also help support overall comprehension. The children are taught to avoid being FREADERS (fake readers). Talk to your children about the difference between a READINKER and a FREADER. It is great to see kids using their metacognition to self-monitor their reading!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher conferences will be held February 22. The conferences are invite only. If you do not receive an invite and feel your child is not meeting the academic and social-emotional standards for their grade, please feel free to reach out to their homeroom teacher.

House of Encouragement Family Visit

The House of Encouragement will host parents February 23 at 8 a.m. To ensure that you can fully participate in the experience, you must learn your house chant. Each housemate can have only one adult guest due to our limited space. We hope you can take the time to join us. Please sign up to let us know if you plan to attend.

Third-Grade Writing Boot Camp

Third graders participated in Writers' Boot Camp during English Language Arts class. Each student received a dog tag to wear as they cycled through different writing centers to practice the important writing skills they had been working on during class this year. Mrs. Trudell, Mrs. Riley, Mrs. Rosenbaum, Mrs. Lemanowicz, Ms. Eason, and Miss Mock all encouraged students to work hard and use the strategies they have been practicing as they completed various tasks that required them to use grit and stamina. The students were very engaged and enjoyed working together on these novel tasks.
