PROJECT TYPE: Roadway
PROJECT LOCATION: The intersection of Vermont Route 116, Shelburne Falls Road and CVU Road in the town of Hinesburg.
PROJECT SCOPE: Construction activities include road widening on VT Route 116, Shelburne Falls Road and CVU Road for the addition of new turn lanes and replacement of the existing traffic signal. Culverts on Route 116, Ballards Corner Road, Shelburne Falls Road and Pleasant View Lane will be replaced as part of the project.
Planned Construction Activities:
Crews are scheduled to pave the base layer of asphalt on Ballard's Corner Road on Tuesday, 10/20. On Wednesday, curb will be installed, and on Thursday the final layer of asphalt will be paved. Paving is weather dependent and unfavorable conditions can alter the paving schedule.
Three of the four signal foundations at the intersection have been completed.
The culvert on Route 116 has been backfilled. Paving of this area is scheduled to occur next week.
Road widening on CVU Road is scheduled to begin next week.
Paving of the widened section on Shelburne Falls Road is scheduled for next week.
The contractor will begin digging a grass channel ditch on the northeast side of Route 116, north of the barrier. This work is necessary to ensure that storm water from the roadway runs to the new culvert. The traveling public should expect a one-way alternating traffic pattern between 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. daily.
The traveling public should expect alternating one-way traffic within the project area between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. throughout the week of 10/19/20. Please expect delays and add extra time to your travel plans.
As part of Governor Scott’s “Work Smart, Stay Safe” order, all construction crews are currently subject to certain safety restrictions.
