Hints From a Pro For a Perfect Webcast

Nancie Ruder, Noetics

Webinar trainings can combine the best of both live and online learning. Trainees get to interact with a live trainer who makes learning fun and  memorable. Corporate Learning departments save considerable money on travel, minimize meeting expenses and conserve the precious resource of employee time. Unfortunately, webinar training is difficult to do well .
Learning via webinar is inherently a passive experience. This means that your trainer and training materials need to work very hard to engage and reengage trainees sitting at their desks in front of computers. We have learned a lot about how to do this well over the past five years and would like to offer corporate learning leaders this guidance for how to hire an excellent webinar trainer.
In order to gauge how effective a trainer and her training material will be, first request a sample of her work in short video form or ask to sit in on a live webinar training. Here's what you should look for when vetting your potential trainer's work.

Here is what MMG has been working on lately:

Dan Eriksen, Director of Photography

As part of a series for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency called "Faces of EPA", Maslow Media Group's New Jersey based Director of Photography, Dan Eriksen, boarded a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers boat with an HD C-300 Camera Package to help document the work and shoot footage for a feature profile on an EPA scientist responsible for Quality Assurance and Standard Operating Procedures for regional water programs.  The shoot took place on the river waters south of Jersey City.  The final video will be posted on EPA's YouTube channel in the near future.

Tres Bruce, Director of Photography

Hurricane Matthew's flight up the east coast devastated many cities and small towns as it made its way north.   On Saturday, October 15th, Maslow Media Group's North Carolina Director of  Photography Tres Bruce hiked through the rising waters of Lumberton, North Carolina to shoot a story for the Environmental Protection agency.

Paid Sick Leave for Workers on Federal Contracts: Overview of Proposed Rule

Gary Fabiano, U.S. Department of Labor

"Because moms and dads should be able to stay at home with a sick child, because workers shouldn't have to choose between their health and their job, because it is both morally right for workers and good for communities and the economy, President Obama chose to lead by example and require that companies doing business with the federal government provide paid sick leave to their workers." - U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez

Today's working families must be responsible to their jobs, their families, their communities and their own health. But while illness and injury are natural occurrences, bound to hit all households, too many of today's workplaces impose unnatural choices on workers - to choose between caring for a loved one or getting a paycheck when illness or injury strikes. About 40 percent of the total private-sector workforce, an estimated 44 million workers, do not have paid time off in order to recover from illness and care for family members and loved ones.
