There are some excellent grant opportunities available in these first months of 2024:
The National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) is accepting grant applications for their National Trust Preservation Funds Program (NTPF). The grants support a variety of preservation planning and educational projects. Dedicated funding is available for California in this funding cycle!
Application Deadline: February 1, 2024.
Grant applications are also being accepted for the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund of the NTHP to support support capital projects, organizational capacity building, project planning, and programming and interpretation activities at historic sites of African American history across the country.

The California Strategic Growth Council recently launched the Tribal Capacity Building Pilot Program. The program provides funding and technical assistance to California Native American tribes to build staff capacity, secure funding, and implement tribal-led climate solutions.
Application Deadline: February 5, 2024.
The California Natural Resources Agency's Tribal Nature-Based Solutions Program provides grant funding to support tribal nature-based priorities including ancestral land return projects, conservation and restoration, climate resiliency, and more.
Next Deadline for the application process: February 6, 2024.
National Fund for Sacred Places grants provide support to repair and preserve historic houses of worship and sustain their history and place within their communities.
Letter of Intent Deadline: February 29, 2024.
California Humanities Grant Programs (California Humanities) support a variety of efforts by nonprofits and public agencies to preserve and educate about California's richly diverse heritage.
Upcoming deadlines in January and February 2024 for a variety of grant programs.
The next round of T-Mobile Hometown Grants is now accepting applications. The grants are for towns with a population of 50,000 or less, and support community revitalization projects such as adaptive reuse of historic buildings or creation of community gathering spaces, among others.
