CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR SOCIETY AND

FISHER HOUSE FOUNDATION PARTNERSHIP

During Military Family Appreciation Month, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Fisher House leveraged its partnership to host an important conversation on a topic that is central to the efforts of both organizations: Building a Community That Cares: Veterans Supporting Our Service Members and Each Other.

This webinar, viewable in the Society's Video Library here, brought the voices of Medal of Honor Recipients Leroy Petry and Jim McCloughan and Fisher House Foundation’s CEO and Founder, Ken Fisher, together to discuss the importance of ensuring that veteran support remains a priority for our nation.

D-DAY: THE MEDAL OF HONOR ON OMAHA BEACH

The Medal of Honor Character Development Program (CDP) launched a new video in November titled, “D-Day: The Medal of Honor on Omaha Beach.” Featuring the stories of Medal of Honor Recipients Pinder, Barrett, and Monteith, this video gives viewers a chance to learn about D-Day from three very different perspectives. View it here

The accompanying lesson for students can be found on the Society's website, as well. To access these and other CDP materials, you will be asked to register.

NEW WEBINARS & BLOG

In November, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society Archives teamed up with the Character Development Program for the third in its series of fall webinars: "Life After War: Medal of Honor Recipients Return to Normal Life." You can view all webinars here.

A new addition to the Medal of Honor Blog – an historical accounting of Civil War Recipient Thomas Evans’s Medal of Honor action -- was added in November and can be found here.

AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE MOVIE "DEVOTION"

Can you spot Tom Hudner Jr. in the movie still above? Devotion co-star Glen Powell suggested that the son of Medal of Honor Recipient Tom Hudner have a cameo in the film, an experience that Hudner Jr. called "surreal."

Hudner Jr. already had a reason to be at the filming location since he was bringing his father's Medal of Honor and U.S. Naval Academy class ring for Powell to wear in a scene at the end of the movie.

Hear and see more from Hudner Jr. here.

MEDAL OF HONOR VALOR TRAIL

A new “interactive map” from ValorTrail.org—the joint project of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and American Battlefield Trust--was launched in November. The map will also be an interactive display at the Medal of Honor Museum on the USS Yorktown in Mount Pleasant, SC. You can check out the map here.
