Christina's Corner
Happy New Year!

It's 2019 still! Don't stop accomplishing as much as you can. I am always grateful when people are still setting goals during a childhood memory time of year. I totally get those comfort foods, my Grandma makes the best homemade noodles, I am blessed that she is so sweet and makes them the "fitness way". It is ok to modify things that you love! If you send me your traditional recipes I am happy to add some fitness tips to it. This year has been one of the best yet for all our clients reaching their goals! 15 years of business and the team at H&H is here for each of you in our special way. Thank you for an epic 2019 and let's make 2020 just as amazing or better!

What a surprise and honor it was to receive the His & Her Fitness Client of the Year award at the annual holiday party. This is certainly not something that was on my list of goals for the year, but certainly was very much appreciated.

Receiving this award reminds me that sometimes when you set a goal, your setting out to achieve the goal may result in your attaining something totally unexpected. In June I set a goal of completing the New York City Marathon to be held on November 3. This would be my 13th marathon, but my first marathon in almost 11 years and, if you have ever seen me, you know I don't have the physique of most runners. Add to that, I am 65 years old. Anyway, I set out in mid- June with my run/walk training regimen four days a week along with my twice a week strength training at His & Her Fitness. I encountered a few physical ailments along the way, but Christina and my chiropractor got me through those setbacks. When November 3rd rolled around I was able to complete the marathon, although not in the time I had hoped to achieve. That said, I did finish the 26.2 mile event, raised over $11,000 for The Leukemia & Leukemia Society, had a great time, got in good shape and lo and behold received the Client of the Year award which I think was at least in part due to my marathon effort. How about that! I think it's good for everyone to set goals for themselves at least periodically and if they are health/diet/exercise related Christina and her team are there to advise, guide and push you along. Setting a goal usually means you'll be making sacrifices to attain the goal, but with the right attitude and a good team behind you it might surprise you what you too can accomplish. Thank you H & H!

What an amazing year it has been at His and Her Fitness this past year. I have been richly blessed to work with an amazing team and have the most wonderful clients. What an honor is to be chosen Team Member of the Year. This couldn't have happened without my great co-workers and each of you. His and Her Fitness is definitely family, and I am honored to be part of it.
Some people say you should never look back but only look ahead. I don't exactly agree with that. I feel that we can learn from our past and the obstacles that we have had to overcome. So why do I say this? What does this have to do with fitness? I feel that it has a lot to do with fitness. Look at this past year, what were your goals? Did you meet them? Look at this past year and did you accomplish what you wanted to fitness wise? If you didn't what can you do this year to change that? What can you do to set this next year up for success. Setbacks are just that...they set us back at that point in time but they don't define where we end up. So re-evaluate, re-focus, and put in the work for success. If you're having trouble doing this, then let us help you. That's what we are here for...to help you SUCCEED!!! Get rid of the excuses and make the commitment to reach your goals. Maybe you hit your fitness goals this year and if that is you, GREAT JOB!!!, but don't STOP!!! Raise the bar, push onto the next level...don't become complacent with where you are. Take your success and inspire others and keep pushing to become the best you that you can be.
Take some time to think and reflect over this past year. Learn from the mistakes and build off the accomplishments. 2019 is about done, make it memorable and learn from it. Let's keep great things happening at His and Her Fitness...remember we are a family. Family encourages one another, builds each other up and rejoices in each other's success. Let's take 2019 and build off of it and crush 2020. Thank you again His and Her Fitness family for all the great memories of 2019 and I look forward to 2020 with you!!! Blessings to each of you and your families!
