Christina's Corner
April!

It's been one heck of a time here at His & Her Fitness. Doing my best as a small business owner to stay connected with each of you. I must say I am beyond impressed by each of you. The virtual training we have 10 year olds up to 75 adapting to this so quickly. Anyone that personally knows me knows I am not a video girl but with my field I've had to step out of my comfort zone and adapt with being a fitness expert on local and national TV since 2008. Grateful that so many of you have stepped out of comfort zones as well and adapted to placing your phone, iPad, or computer so that we as a training team can watch your form and of course make sure you are doing the exercise described. I feel like I should have nothing to talk about but there is so much. Spread the word we have painted every wall in here, replaced the flooring (no more carpet) and organized the gym in a space effective way. With cleaning this is not going to be an added cost for us, we have always been a clean gym. More information coming about the steps we are taking to keep each of you safe. I would be lying if the last few weeks were easy, the blessing of being an entrepreneur with a passion for what I do is I did pray and have to decide do I just shut the doors down or do I keep working like crazy. For those not ready to come in and those that have preexisting health risk CDC clearly states we will keep you virtual for all others lets follow the guidelines and enjoy the energy of the gym. Grateful to have a small business where we can control the environment and have always had respectful clients and team. If you have friends that express interest in a smaller gym please just text me with them 913-206-7645 we would love to add to this studio and have more people that are like you supporting local and of course working with a team that is over qualified to be personal trainers and love it!

NOTE 8 weeks is out early, go to website HERE and click on your team member that trains you the application is there for you to share with someone who would need or appreciate the gift of health.

Kids at Home Tips
Tips for kids at home:
1-Schedule
2-Keep them dressing like school
3-Eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner at table (magic happens at the table)
4-Hour a day with friends playing scheduled activity online
5-Goals
6-Encourage hydration
7-15 minutes of silence or more
8-Go to bed on time
9-Walk once a day
10-Write a letter to someone
11-You've got this, you are going to be the best parents in their eyes because they will never forget this time that you spent with them

You all are saints for making this work, proud of each of you. I see over the years how fatigued parents get over the end of summer, let's do some of the above to keep routines and healthy habits.

I can't believe it's been over a month since I've stepped foot into H&H Fitness gym! With the stress, anxiety and uncertainty of the Coronavirus and the stay at home order, I could get very depressed and unmotivated to maintain my normal exercise and eating routine. As they say, "let it all go." Worry about getting back on track when the gym opens back up. But, that's not what I've been doing. I made a decision I would maintain my normal routine to make it through this stressful time. This is the only thing that's normal in my life right now. The only thing I feel I'm in control of. So, I still plan my snacks and meals for the week and buy only what's on my list at the grocery store. I LOVE salt and vinegar potato chips. I can easily eat an entire bag in one sitting. I know that, so I make the choice not to bring them in my house. To hold me accountable with my exercise, I have continued to strength train with Mo and Christina via FaceTime at the same time I would if I was going to the gym each week. They continue to challenge me even though we're not physically together nor do I have all of the equipment that's at the gym. I also FaceTime with Charity Davis (she trains at H&H too) several days a week for Creative Cardio. It gives us both something to look forward to, plus doing cardio together makes the time pass quickly. With all that being said staying motivated has not been easy. I've had a few mornings when I'm just not feeling it. I start out a little sluggish and unmotivated, but a few minutes into the workout I'm feeling a lot better. By the time we're finished I'm a much happier person and I maintain that mood all day.
My other motivation to stay on track is if I eat clean all week I allow myself one cheat meal. It's either on Friday or Saturday evening. I can't begin to tell you how much I look forward to that meal every week. And yes Rusty, there's a good possibility it will be Mexican!!!!
Hopefully, in the near future we'll be able to go to the gym. Exercising at home has been good and has helped me keep my sanity and reduce my stress level, but it's certainly not the same. I miss my gym friends. I'm also excited to see the newly remodeled space.

I want to take this time to thank all of my clients that stayed with me to train during this time of pandemic. They give me more motivation to work harder to help them reach their goals. I will also like to thank my H&H team for motivating me to do my job the best way I know how to.
