His Word is Our Guide

Pausing with Paulette...

A couple of weeks ago, I was frustrated with four of our ornery calves which have continually chosen to break out of the pasture fences constructed for their safety. They insist on eating the grass around our home and barn by breaking through the fences. As you see in the photo, they chose the front yard that day. The biggest black calf named Hershey is the ringleader and has often led the other three astray.

This recurring behavior endangers them if they get out to the road, as well as any auto drivers who may encounter them. Plus, it takes our time and energy to wrangle them back into the pastures, then fix the fences. Needless to say, Charlie and I made a final decision about Hershey that day. She is headed to the butcher shop.

The incident was a strong visual message which the Lord used to speak to my heart, and I believe for all of us. Let's stay within the designated safe places that the Lord has created for us. His grace, mercy and His Word give us those places.

If we choose to ignore Biblical guidelines from His Word which give us instruction, develop discernment, and increase wisdom, we risk breaking through the parameters "fences" He has established for us. We also risk leading others astray. Praising Him for His Light!

Tidbits with Tanea...

The Lord does not delay to grant us reasons to rejoice. One day, our eldest daughter, Cristina, took us by surprise, saying that she felt with all her heart that she wanted to be baptized. So, in a hurry, we had to settle important details in just a few days before our church's second baptism this year.

We were in such a busy season of events and I couldn't imagine how we were going to manage to get everything in order. But we thank God who blessed us beyond measure and again we were able to experience that when He opens a door no one can close it. He was the One who took care of every detail so that our hearts of parents would exult seeing how our adorable child chooses Jesus and confirms this through the water of baptism. Oh, and how beautiful it was to be surrounded by our dearest people who were with us on this significant day. God is so good!
