Mentoring Event
2018 National Research Conference on Early Childhood
Registration is NOW OPEN for:
  • A Mentoring/Networking Lunch for Emerging Scholars at the NRCEC2018 and/or
  • An Optional Expanded Set of Mentoring Activities

Emerging scholars are invited to register for a Mentoring/Networking Lunch at the 2018 NRCEC Conference on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 12:00 to 1:15 pm . Those emerging scholars (e.g., undergraduate & graduate students, postdocs and/or early career researchers) who are interested in participating in this lunch event will be matched with mentors, who are leading researchers in the field, based upon their area of research interests and expressed professional development needs.

Emerging scholars also may opt in to participate in newly developed Expanded Mentoring Activities . Matched mentors will work with scholars on activities prior to, and after the research conference. A range of supportive mentoring activities will be tailored to the scholars’ professional development interests.

SECC Dissertation Research Funding Awards
The Student and Early Career Committee (SECC) of the Society for Research in Child Development is pleased to announce the tenth annual competition for student funding for dissertation research. Up to ten non-renewable awards in the amount of $2,000 (maximum) will be given for dissertation research proposals that merit special recognition and display strong potential to contribute to the field of child development. Struggling to find a data set to use for your thesis, dissertation, or other research? The National Research Center on Hispanic Children & Families has developed a series of online interactive tools that help users identify which data sets are best suited to answer their research questions. These interactive tools contain information on several data sets and key variables for studying Hispanic families and related topics. Topics include: Unpacking Hispanic diversity, Families’ utilization of early care and education, and Early care and education search and decision-making.
