HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

Here at the library, we're kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15) this week! Join us for free events honoring the cultures and contributions of Hispanic Americans. Click the links below for more information.


Exhibit: Folklórico Dresses of Mexico // Exhibición: Vestidos Folklóricos de México

Beginning September 15, join us at the Downtown Library to view our colorful exhibit of Folklórico dresses from many regions of Mexico.


Teen Makers: Hand Art with Maria Sanchez

Join us for some hand art with local artist, Maria Sanchez, to kick off Hispanic Heritage month!

Interested in meeting new people while reading great books? Join a library book club for kids, teens or adults! For Hispanic Heritage Month, we are reading stories by and about Latinx people.

Teen Book Club

On the third Thursday of every month, discuss the hottest YA titles with your peers (this month’s pick is Adam Silvera's gritty novel They Both Die at the End). For grades 6-12. Space is limited; register soon!


RCPL Book Club for Adults

TUE SEP 26, 12pm

Join us for a lively discussion of Karla Cornejo Villavicencio's The Undocumented Americans. The adult Book Club occurs on the last Tuesday of each month.

SEED LIBRARY

Start your fall garden with a trip the Seed Library. Seeds for cool weather crops and spring flowers are now available at all three library locations: Downtown, Schaberg Branch Library, and Redwood Shores Branch Library. Learn more about the Seed Library here


The Seed Library is sponsored by the The Friends of the Redwood City Public Library, with additional seed donations from OSH Redwood City, Wegman's Nursery, UCCE Master Gardeners of San Mateo and San Francisco, Incredible Edible Mid-Peninsula, Redwood City Seed Company, and local gardeners. 

CITY CORNER

PortFest

We will be at PortFest on Saturday, October 7, will you? PortFest is a free community celebration and waterfront festival that takes place the first Saturday in October. The annual event welcomes the community to learn about Redwood City’s maritime heritage and the history of our industrial working waterfront. Learn more about PortFest here

Park Safety Meetings

The City is hosting community meetings on park safety. Following a short presentation, the community will be invited to share ideas and concerns.


September 19, 6-8pm at the Downtown Public Library, Presented in English.


September 26, 6-8pm at Fair Oaks Community Center, Presented in Spanish.


October 19, 6-8pm online via Zoom. English/Spanish interpretation.

Meeting content will be the same at each meeting. Childcare and refreshments will be provided. Registration is not required to attend but is appreciated for meeting planning purposes.
