Dear Families,
Columbus Academy’s Diversity & Community Life Office and ¡HOLA! (Hispanic Outreach and Latino Awareness) parent group would like to invite all families to join us for a virtual travel and cooking experience to Puebla, Mexico, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month!
This year we welcome virtual hosts Ale Rojas and Alex Ortiz to guide us in separate events beginning with an online experience this Friday, September 25th, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. This event will be live via Zoom where Ale and Alex will take you through a virtual tour of their local market, give you a recipe for the delicious snack called chicharron de queso, and allow an opportunity to participate in a Q&A session.
Then from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26th, Ale and Alex will teach a virtual cooking class for up to 10 families who wish to learn how to make authentic tacos gobernador, crispy cheese shrimp tacos and homemade salsa “naranja” from scratch. Those wishing to attend will need to register in advance via SignUp Genius, and all cooking utensils needed are listed here. There are also three additional dates for the virtual cooking class, which you can sign up for on the same SignUp Genius link listed above for October 3rd (1:00-2:00 p.m.), as well as October 8th and 15th (6:00-7:00 p.m.).
If you have any questions, please email me at or simply reply to this message.
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!
