Traveling Eucharistic Rosary Congress

Saturday, October 7 through Friday, October 13

At various parishes in the Diocese of Providence

Come and spend an hour with our Lord

The Diocese of Providence is hosting a Traveling Eucharistic Rosary Congress from Sat., October 7 through Fri., October 13, 2023. The Traveling Eucharistic Rosary Congress is a week-long period of intense, around-the-clock prayer consisting of Perpetual Adoration and Hourly Rosary, offered in a spirit of reparation.

We are joining with other dioceses across the nation to pray for the healing of our Church, our families, and our nation (for more information, visit rosarycongressusa.org). As the Church suffers from persecution from within and without, as family life is attacked more viciously than ever before, and as life continues to be threatened in its most vulnerable stages, we need this unified prayer now more than ever.

The Eucharistic Rosary Congress will travel to a different parish for each 24-hour period from October 7-13. Locally, seven parishes in the diocese will host one day of Eucharistic Adoration each, click below for schedule.

Grow in Faith

You’re Not Crazy, And You’re Not Alone

DR. MATTHEW PETRUSEK

There is something rotten in the state of America and in much of the West. Suicides and deaths of despair are at record highs. Secular culture goads mothers to regard their own unborn babies as career-killing parasites; unsurprisingly, around 20% of pregnancies end in abortion (that’s over 600,000 exterminated children per year in the US alone). Little ones who do make it past birth are growing up in fatherless homes, attending failed schools by day and feeding screen addictions by night.

Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary

October 7

The Holy Rosary originated in 1212 when Saint Dominic de Guzman saw the Virgin Mary who gave him the Rosary as a response to his prayer to understand how to combat the Albigensian heresy. The subsequent defeat of this heresy led to viewing the recitation of the Rosary as an instrument in finding refuge and comfort, strength and confidence in facing and overcoming the difficulties encountered in life, finding in the Rosary beads a “shield” to defeat heresy.

Bishop Henning's latest column in Rhode Island Catholic

The Richness of the Word

A print of a famous Caravaggio painting of Saint Jerome hangs on my office wall. Saint Jerome was a foundational biblical scholar and is recognized as the patron saint of those who study and translate the sacred texts. That the painting is a masterwork of fine art is hardly surprising given the professional skill of the famous painter. Even so, I like it near at hand more for its message than the skill of its medium.
