CLEANING UP AFTER WINTER STORM

All the snow and ice melted last week with the warmer weather, but the tree and landscape damage left behind was horrific. We spent much of last week cleaning up and the rain complicated things, but we are now getting back to our normal schedule. The weather has warmed, and we were near record highs this past weekend. Things dried out Sunday, but the rain will return and temperatures are forecasted to lower and may even get to freezing again by the weekend. WINTER AIN’T OVER YET.

Very interesting editorial in the Oregonian yesterday promoting the city to re-evaluate their punitive tree ordinances. Portland is a “Tree Hugger” city and over the past decade it has grown very difficult to remove trees with Portland and many surrounding cities enacting tree preservation ordinances. With hundreds of trees “hugging” homes around the area, some citizens are re-evaluating the strict ordinances. DON’T GET US WRONG, WE LOVE TREES, but not all are needed and removal, especially to protect property. It will be interesting to see if things change.
