Greetings!

I am proud to share that Hitanvita Ramirez has been named our 2026 Youth of the Year! Her story is one of resilience, leadership, and purpose.

A proud first-generation high school student and soon-to-be graduate of Rio Mesa High School, and daughter of agricultural workers, Hita spoke about growing up as the bridge for her family and how a serious car accident reshaped her journey - strengthening her voice, perspective, and determination.

“The Club became a place where I am loved and not just another name on a transcript,” Hitanvita shared. “They don’t just ask me about my grades - they ask me how I am doing, and they mean it.”

Through her experiences and the relationships she built at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme, Hitanvita found the confidence to step into leadership. Today, she serves as Keystone President, Senior Kindness Ambassador, Choir Captain, Junior Staff, and Smart Girls Chair - using her voice to uplift others and normalize conversations around mental health.

Hita shared, “I am not defined by the time I lost, but by the compassion I gained for myself and my community. Great Futures don’t just start here; they are built here.”

I am incredibly proud to celebrate Hitanvita and look forward to all she will accomplish as our 2026 Youth of the Year.

Thank you to our distinguished judges - Danielle Roy, Eric Reiter, Marci Francisco, Rafael Perez, and Terri Lisagor - for their time, thoughtfulness, and commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders.

I also celebrate our exceptional Youth of the Year candidates - Selena, Jaymie, Leo, Gisselle, and Michelle - and our Junior Youth of the Year candidates, whose courage and authenticity made this event truly impactful.

Thank you,

Erin Antrim
