----> The Soul Pros  (Soul Proclaimers of Sound Culture) are a musical collective based out of Denver, CO which consists of MC's Mike Wird, Pablo Kee and DJ/Producer Aaron "A-L" Ladley. Their sound blends old to new school Hip Hop textures with Soul, Funk, Jazz and Latin influences. On stage the Soul Pros deliver high energy live performances that move the crowd with skilled lyricism and authentic turntablism. In addition to performing at national events, the group has shared the stage with musical acts such as De La Soul, Public Enemy, KRS ONE, Pharoahe Monch, Lattyrx, Les Nubians and more.

----> Live art by Karma Leigh , a painter and creator who also makes tangible art items and jewelry from her work. A drinker of coffee, a night owl. A lover of lines, water and bold colors is apparent in her work. When not creating, she is daydreaming and staring at the stars, birds, or rocks.

Community Partner
----> Project VOYCE (Voices of Youth Changing Education) : PV's mission is to empower youth to create change within themselves, their schools, their communities and the world. It has evolved into a leadership program that increases student engagement in school, improves graduation rates and promotes youth success, especially for students in Denver. Through in-depth leadership and advocacy training, PV inspires young people to be the change they wish to see in the world.

Xpress Yourself

Basic Spoken Word Workshops for Youth (#XpressYourself)

We have worked with numerous schools and organizations throughout Colorado to give underserved youth an opportunity to express themselves. Recent partners: Aims Community College (TRIO programs).

If you are interested in having Cafe Cultura present at your school or organization, feel free to contact us. Our basic version is a one time, 1 to 2 hour  session . We have used this  highly engaging and  culturally relevant  workshop structure for over eight years to encourage Chicana/o and Native youth to use spoken word to give voice to our stories of love, struggle, injustice, and celebration. They serve to supplement and support Language Arts/English curriculum Workshop structure was designed by a spoken word artist with 4 years experience teaching at the middle and high school level with contributions from other poets and youth advocates.Click here for a detailed information sheet.
