From our CEO,
Kelly O'Lague Dulka, MSW

“Think of giving not as a duty but as a privilege.”
―John D. Rockefeller Jr.

As you make your end of the year giving decisions, we hope you will think of Hively.

Every day we stretch our dollars to maximize our impact to help children and families thrive.
We provide everything from diapers, baby clothes and car seats to assistance accessing critical resources like child care, health care and housing.

Instead of thinking of Hively as a safety net, we like to think of it as a thriving hive, filled with the hustle and buzz that come from helping children and families in our community lead happier, healthier lives.

Tuesday, December 3rd is a national day of giving.
Please consider a gift to Hively on Giving Tuesday. You can make your donation of any size here.

Here's what your contribution can fund:

  • $10 baby wipes for five families
  • $35 a month's supply of diapers for one baby/toddler
  • $50 mommy and me playgroup for a month
  • $100 counseling appointment for a child or teen
  • $500 trauma training for 20 parents and child care providers

As always, we invite you to be part of our Hively community! We work every day to improve the lives of the children and families in our community. There is so much to do. Will you help us? For more information on how you can get involved, email us at hello@behively.org.

Children's Health and Child Care Initiative Alameda County 2020

We did it! Last week twenty boxes and one bundle of petitions were submitted to the Alameda County Registrar of Voters! This is a big step forward in providing quality health care, services, child care, and education for our families and communities, as well as increase the wages of our important child care providers and educators.

Hively would like to thank all of the volunteers, parents, and child care providers that hit the streets to collect signatures from their friends, family and community. Hively collected over 550 signatures! We could not have done it without you!

Next steps? The Alameda County Registrar will count and verify each signature. While we wait, join Parent Voices of Oakland's new Facebook group  Child Care for All Alameda County  to stay up to date on all the progress we are making together! You can also endorse the initiative by clicking below!

Recognizing the Signs of Depression and Anxiety
in Children and Teens

January 8th & 22nd
6.30PM - 8.30PM
Anxiety disorders affect one in eight children and one in four teens. Research shows that untreated children and teens with anxiety disorders are at higher risk to perform poorly in school, miss out on important social experiences, and engage in substance abuse and other self-destructive behaviors. Anxiety disorders often co-occur with depression as well as eating disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and others.

With treatment and support, children and teens can learn how to successfully manage the symptoms of anxiety and depression and live healthy, happy lives. It is critical that those in the child’s system of support be able to identify the signs of depression and anxiety and know when s/he needs help.

Join Hively CEO and licensed therapist, Kelly O’Lague Dulka, MSW, LCSW to learn how to recognize the signs of depression and anxiety in children and teens and what steps to take when you do.

Dinner Provided.

Hively in Sacramento!
Hively joined over 700 attendees at this year's CAPPA and Resource & Referral Network Annual Conference! Information was shared and connections were made to allow us to bring back resources for our community.
Not only did Hively CEO, Kelly O'Lague Dulka facilitate 3 workshops, and Vanessa Dilks, Director of Community Services, help plan the big event as a Conference Committee member, we were also a conference sponsor! Each person in attendance received one of our reusable water bottles.
Family Read Night!
Hively had so much fun at our annual Halloween Family Read Night! Children joined us to listen to Halloween stories, decorate trick or treat bags, and have a glow stick dance party!
Every child that attended got to take 2 books home with them!
