Rob Frid

We are excited to introduce one of Tucker Hockey’s newest On Ice Instructors – Rob Frid!

Rob has been a great addition to the Tucker Hockey Team since the Summer of 2024. He has a deep passion and love for the game and great potential to become a top-notch assistant and later head on ice instructor.

Tucker Hockey

Spring 2025

3 on 3

Recap

Tucker Hockey’s 2025 3 on 3 Spring season wrapped up this June, at the Edge Arena.

Each of the 8 teams played an exciting 36-minute game during their last session which showcased how much development all the players gained over the prior 15 sessions.

Both the U13 – 1st yr U15 and 2nd yr U15 – U18 groups had a Championship Trophy Game as well as Award presentations for:

  • Most Goals
  • Most Assists
  • Most Improved
  • Leadership Award
  • Hardest Worker

We enjoyed watching all the players work hard developing their skills and tightening up their game play with our fast paced 3 on 3 shifts.

Player Education

for Better

Development

We are what we

repeatedly do –

excellence then –

is not an act –

but a habit.

~ Aristotle

The purpose of this article is to help educate players about their hockey development and to maximize a player’s future improvements / results within our Tucker Hockey Programs.

Player Education:

  • Love the game of hockey. It’s a great sport!

  • If you love hockey, you will put in the many hours of development required to see noticeable skill improvement. It’s not work but play! Pure joy!!

  • If others see improvement in your skills this definitely means you have put the work in! This is the best testimonial to certify your improvements and development.

  • Do the reps – “good reps” / lots of sweat is required for improvements.

  • You will get out of it what you put into it – there are no shortcuts.

  • Hard work will outperform talent when talent doesn’t work hard.

  • 10,000 hours to “master” skills.

  • Players should not get discouraged with failure and quit on a drill or skill.

  • Failure is a part of development to be successful in the long term.
The Tucker Hockey Mission Statement:

Through The Tucker Hockey Way:

  • Instilling the love and passion for hockey

  • Being inclusive to all ages, background & skill levels

  • Improving hockey and life skills in a positive learning environment

  • Making a difference!

This is our Legacy of Values.

Bradley Mersereau Memorial 2025 Q2

Adult Award Recipient

Martin Ciuk

Congratulations to Martin on receiving the Bradley Mersereau Memorial Award!

Martin is a very hard-working participant in our recent Wednesday night Adult Program. He has definitely embraced the Tucker Hockey philosophy saying it’s “Your program”, it’s “You and the Drill”, “Go at your own pace”, and “Don’t be afraid to make mistakes”.

Martin is one of those participants where we appreciate his hard work, positive attitude, and we always look forward to celebrating his on-ice improvements as he develops in the Adult Program.

We look forward to seeing Martin at the rink again in 2025!

The Calgary Canucks are the 2025 Centennial Cup Champions!!

The Calgary Canucks raised the Centennial Cup on Sunday May 18, 2025! This is the teams second time winning the prestigious cup. The first time was in 1995, dating back 30 years.

We all know it takes a whole community, and beyond, to make a large event like this happen.

Tucker Hockey’s Assistant Business Manager Candace DiGiacomo was part of the large volunteer crew working as an Off Ice Official. In this role, she worked closely with Corey Kinghorn, who was Head of Off Ice Officials at the Centennial Cup. Corey shared with us his perspective from working the prestigious Hockey Canada event.

We were also fortunate to get a viewpoint on the event from Jamie Henry, the Assistant and Skills Coach for the Calgary Canucks!

With a 54 year history,

this article is a "must read”!

Danny Cammack

Congratulations Blake on receiving the Danny Cammack Memorial Award!

We hope you had an enjoyable hockey season and hope to see you again soon in our Tucker Hockey programs!

Q2 2025 Poll Question

In the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Finals, who did you cheer for?

Results from Q1 2025 Poll

For the 2024 / 2025 hockey season, will the Calgary Flames....

Results from the poll:

1st Wildcard / Make the Playoffs - 15%

2nd Wildcard / Make the Playoffs

- 25%

Not Make the Playoffs

- 60%

The Flames had a very good season. Yes, they outperformed the majority of the hockey experts early season predictions! The Flames provided an exciting and outstanding playoff race right to the very end. Unfortunately, they came up short from clinching a playoff spot by only 1 point! Maybe the upcoming 2025 - 2026 season will be a playoff year.

Let's Go Flames Let's Go!!
