Success Stories
Overcoming Struggles & Finding Affordable Housing
Our Community Inclusion Specialist worked with a consumer who was struggling to find affordable housing. She was homeless, and her newborn had to stay in the hospital until she found permanent residency. ADANC utilized CARES Funding to place her in a hotel and assisted her to find housing.

She faced several struggles and countless negative results during her housing search, but she overcame them and can now provide for her newborn.

The CIS worked with her continuously for four months, until they were able to secure housing within her price range. She is now the proud renter of a two-bedroom apartment that will provide a stable and safe environment for her child to come home!
Utilizing Self Advocacy
A consumer of ADANC has been experiencing difficulties with her Home Owner’s Association. The Community Inclusion Specialist worked with the consumer to locate appropriate legislation to present to the Board. The consumer has learned to advocate efficiently and has been in contact with the HUD regarding this matter.

Her advocacy skills have grown and will help her to receive the request that she needs to mitigate her disability in her home.
Our Vision is to see North Carolinians who experience a disability live in the communities of their choice and be empowered to address their own needs.

With your support we can make that vison a reality!

Support ADANC this year with a tax-deductible donation. Even small, monthly donations can help expand our programs and improve services.

While the State has made considerable progress in expanding vaccines to all, we encourage our supporters to keep wearing masks and maintain social distancing.
