Hold Your Peace! 5/17/17
Luke 14:28 (KJV)
28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
As CSN&Y sang MANY years ago,
"
FIND THE COST OF FREEDOM, BURIED IN THE GROUND
MOTHER EARTH WILL SWALLOW YOU, LAY YOUR BODY DOWN!!"
OR, as Mama taught me, "Nothing good comes easy!"
BUT, for us, God's children, WE have this Promise:
Philippians 1:6 (KJV)
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
When YOU and I are IN God's Will, one MUST believe and CLING to:
Romans 8:28 (KJV)
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
I call to remembrance today the Story found in Acts 5!
Peter and other Apostles had been cruelly imprisoned for PREACHING the Gospel and then dragged before a court.
As the "judges" reasoned among themselves what crime and PUNISHMENT to mete, one wise lawyer arose and said this:
Acts 5:34-39 (KJV)
34 Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;
35 And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
36 For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.
37 After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.
38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
39 But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
IF what You are doing, IF what You are LIVING,

be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God."
OFTENTIMES, what men meant for evil, GOD MEANT FOR GOOD!!!
Genesis 50:20 (KJV)

But as for you, ye thought evil against me;

God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as
it is
this day, to save much people alive.
Ya see,
Romans 8:31 (KJV)

What shall we then say to these things? If God
be
for us, who
can be
against us?
Just this morning, in my PERSONAL devotion and Bible reading, I read this:
1 Corinthians 16:9 (KJV)

For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and
there are
many adversaries.
BUT our Bible also says this:
Proverbs 24:10 (KJV)

If
thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength
is
small.
Beloved, I would be remiss and in grave error to NOT tell you that THIS life is a CONTINUAL battle!!!!
As dear old mom said, "NOTHING GOOD COMES EASY!"
TODAY, do not murmur and complain, but "HOLD YOUR PEACE!"
