As the days get shorter and winter fast approaches, we’re looking back on three ways learners dug in on the farm this fall. This edition features The John Dewey Society, Burlington High School Horizons Program, and our family programs with Outreach for Earth Stewardship.
Ensuring our Campus' Future with Lightning Protection
Improved lightning protection, installed this summer and fall, will protect historic buildings essential to our educational campus, including the Farm Barn, Coach Barn, and Inn.
The name 'pumpkin' pie can be a little misleading. Pumpkin is really just a cuter word for any thick-skinned winter squash, and lots of chefs will use other varieties of squash aside from the common pie pumpkin. Try Inn Pastry Chef Veronica Bartolacci's version of this autumnal treat.

We collaborated with The Trust for Public Land to create "Nature Near Schools", an interactive map illustrating which K-12 schools in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont benefit from accessible, conserved open space.
Shelburne Farms is a nonprofit education organization inspiring and cultivating learning for a sustainable future. Based on Abenaki land along the shores of Lake Champlain, our campus is a 1,400-acre working farm, forest, and National Historic Landmark.
