Holiday Check In!
The snow has finally arrived! Roads are icy, so please remember to drive slow and take a few extra seconds at the stop light for oncoming traffic.

The Governor's budget will come out in mid-January instead of December 15th.

The Anchorage Legislative Information Offices (LIO) are under construction, so my staff and I will be without an Anchorage office until next spring. I'm always available by phone (269-0123) or email (Rep.Ivy.Spohnholz@akleg.gov), but if you'd like to meet with me in person, contact me and we can try and schedule a meeting in town or in one of the conference rooms on the ground floor of the LIO.

Earthquake Relief & Safety Information
On November 30th, Southcentral Alaska was rocked to its core. An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 was reported between Palmer and Anchorage at 8:29 a.m. For those of you who had serious to moderate damage to your homes or property, there may be some financial relief assistance available for you. The Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management reports that any individual that has damaged property (after insurance has kicked in) can apply for assistance. You will need:

  • Photos or other proof of damage
  • Documentation
  • Access to the damaged property

The number to reach Emergency Management is 1-855-445-7131. You can also visit their website where they have more information: ready.alaska.gov.

The Department of Transportation & Public Facilities has provided a way for you to receive earthquake assessment updates. You can sign up here.
