Greetings!
With the holiday season in full swing, I know I am looking forward to seeing my twenty-something kids who are in town. In years past our family has done a lot of entertaining – and this season is typically a chance for us to catch up with friends old and new. With the COVID-19 variants coming on strong, we have held back in doing our normal festivities – trying to minimize the size and number of activities we are doing. It means that we are not gathering for our typical open house with the neighbors….our cousins party was significantly smaller. A friend with a cold means we won’t be visiting.

….and we are finishing up our health care ‘to dos’ for the year, including getting my once a decade tetanus shot (I hate shots!), I am both thankful to our pharmacists and medical professionals but also weary as I see and hear that they are running way behind with the pandemic still in full swing.

So what are we to do?

If you have been attending our monthly Community Conversations (highly recommend listening to what our Board Member Dale Reisner, MD had to say: (check out our latest Community Conversation here), you know that we are not moving past the pandemic. There are many actions we can still continue to take to stay safe.

The HealthAdvocateX team will continue to be working to bring our community timely, relevant and actionable information to help you, your loved ones and the people you know and work with stay safe.
Here’s to your good health,

Robin Shapiro (Board Chair) and the Team at HealthAdvocateX

Medical billing errors or extraordinary medical costs are a major contributor to personal bankruptcy. Most people do not understant how to evaluate insurance plans or what to do about billing errors until it is too late. This session will cover essential information about medical bills claims, denials, appeals, pre-authorizations and how participants can apply this information to cutting the cost of medical bills.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Learn strategies to cut the cost of medical bills.
  2. How to evaluate specific insurance plans now being sold and why they may not be what you expect.
  3. Identify resources and alternatives to high priced medications.
