Every year, MCCH aspires to provide our clients with gifts for the holiday season through our
Holiday Giving program. We are proud to announce our 2019 gift drive was a huge success! With over $29,000 in donated gifts and more than 138 volunteer hours spent wrapping, our clients had a very happy holiday season!
Volunteers Needed for Annual PIT Count
Point In Time (PIT) count is a nationwide HUD-mandated annual census of all people experiencing homelessness. The PIT count is critical to helping Montgomery County and MCCH identify the number of households experiencing homelessness and the resources needed to move them into stable housing.
Montgomery County is seeking volunteers to help with this survey in our community. This year's count will begin on Wednesday January 22
nd at 9 p.m. and end by 4 a.m. on Thursday January 23
Volunteers will begin the night with training and then go out in teams to designated locations throughout the county, where unsheltered people may be located.
Due to limited financial resources, we aren't always able to provide clients with the items they need beyond basic necessities. That's where a special group of people in our Urgent Needs Task Force Facebook group jump in and provide these items!
In 2019, these generous community members made over 242 donations worth $14,412! Although it may seem like a small gesture, donating these items shows our clients that their community cares about them. When recovering from the trauma of homelessness, that reminder can be a glimmer of light in the darkness.
