Last Minute Gifts for Mental Wellness

The holidays can be a stressful time for anyone, but especially for someone struggling with mental illness. We pulled from various lists and our own to create this list of gift ideas to foster MENTAL WELLNESS.

This doesn't have to be just for the holidays. These ideas can be used year-round. (Thank you to everyone who contributed ideas to this project!)

The items listed are just a jumping off point. You can also consider items that the person likely wouldn’t buy for themselves, something to treat themselves.

Regardless of what you choose to give, whether to someone else or YOURSELF, MHAV wishes you all a safe and happy holiday!

10,086 Virginians completed
our online mental health
screenings this summer.

That’s a 500% increase over last year.

Our mental health screenings have
skyrocketed during the pandemic,
and demand for our services and
support has never been higher.

People are calling our Virginia Warm Line for peer support in record
numbers, with 1,052 calls in the last quarter.

Visits to our website and social media have reached an all-time high
as people seek resources and ways to manage stress.

Our new webinar on Trauma and Resilience had 170 participants.

There are so many people who are struggling with extreme stress, anxiety and depression, and they’re seeking help and support.

Now it’s our job to be there for them when they need it.

(Re)STORE: Survive and Thrive
Wednesday, January 20, 2021
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

We've taken some of the timeliest topics from our 3-day retreat and adapted them for a half-day online training. Peer Recovery Specialists facilitate trauma-informed training and recovery support for crime or trauma survivors.

The goal is to facilitate ongoing recovery by using a strengths-based approach to empower individuals toward self-advocacy.

This half-day live Zoom training is free of charge and limited to Virginia crime and/or trauma survivors. There will be a one hour break for lunch. You must use a computer to attend. Space is limited.

Topics include: Trauma awareness, grief and loss, resilience, self-care

Facilitators: Heather Fossen, CPRS and Kevin Kelly, CPRS

Registration deadline: Wednesday, January 13 at 5:00 pm EDT

This training is limited to Virginia residents who have not previously attended the MHAV webinars on Trauma, Behavior & Shame and Grief, Loss & Resilience, or the in-person (Re)STORE retreat. You must be able to attend by computer.
