From The Senior Citizen Council of Cobb County
Your Opinion Matters!

The Senior Citizen Council of Cobb County regularly conducts surveys of Cobb seniors and recently conducted a survey of seniors regarding their current and future transportation requirements.

These requirements were presented to the Cobb County Board of Commissioners. We plan to continue efforts to keep elected officials aware of the important issues affecting the approximately 191,000 seniors over the age of 55 in Cobb County. Seniors make up about 25% of the population of Cobb and we need to keep our needs uppermost in the minds of elected officials
Here is a partial list of the results:
  • More than 2/3 of participants would consider using alternative transportation if options were available and they would be willing to pay for these options
  • More than 2/3 of all survey participants live outside of the Cobb County Transit System
  • Average age of participants is 73
  • The most common reason for needing other transportation options is physical reasons such as eyesight decline and they want to continue to be productive and active citizens
