WORKING TO ACHIEVE A PEACEFUL SUSTAINABLE FUTURE FREE FROM THE THREAT OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS
Our Best Wishes for the Holidays
from
Global Security Institute
No matter where you are this holiday season, we hope you are safe, healthy and with loved ones, even if virtually. The holiday "pause" is an excellent opportunity for each of us to reflect on the bright spots along with the challenges of this trying time.

Some of the "bright spots" we are particularly grateful for this year:
Jane Goodall: Peace or Pieces
Jane has been a part of the GSI family and on the GSI Advisory Board since its inception with Senator Alan Cranston and former President Mikhail Gorbachev. We had a wonderful conversation about the important of peace both globally and locally, and how to inspire action.

Nuclear Weapons and International Law
A "Who's Who" of international law and nuclear disarmament experts, featuring former Governor Jerry Brown, President of the American Bar Association Patricia Lee Refo, and other notables. A "don't miss."

Dr. William Perry with the Opal Group
A rare opportunity to interact with former US Secretary of Defense Dr. William Perry under President Clinton, who is still actively working to end the nuclear threat.

Izumi Nakamitsu at the ABA
Dialogue with UN Under Secretary General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Izumi Nakamitsu, with presentation of the American Bar Association International Law Section’s Lifetime Achievement Award to GSI President Jonathan Granoff.

Of course there is much more. If you have some free moments over the holidays, please take a moment to review our website and catch up on the events you may have missed.
From the Members of GSI's Nonpartisan Security Group:
Ambassador Thomas Graham
"Without independent strong voices from civil society government often lacks vision and vision is sorely needed in this transformative historic moment. That is why the expert professional leadership of GSI is so valuable."
Ambassador Robert Grey
"The world needs more of the kind of passionate and informed education and advocacy GSI provides."
Professor David Koplow
"The professionalism and sophistication of GSI's programs match the challenge of its mission, to achieve the security of a nuclear weapons free world."
The New Year

President-elect Joe Biden and GSI founder Senator Alan Cranston were not only colleagues who worked closely together but were also close friends. Many members of the GSI team have extensive experience with members of the incoming administration. We have enormous confidence that the new administration will be responsive to civil society engagement in addressing today’s global threats.

You will hear more about this in the New Year.

As always, we rely on the support of people like you to complete our work. Please take a moment to join our team of supporters as we help to bring the U.S. and the world into a new phase that includes a reinvigoration of multilateralism, the rule of law, and progress in both nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament.

Thank you for being with us this year, and we look forward to having you with us in the New Year.-
