On The Hill Of Hope!

December 2024 - A Season of Gratitude and Growth at High Watch

Dear Friends,

As we approach the holiday season, I find myself reflecting on the many holidays I've spent at High Watch—first as a guest, later as a volunteer, and now as the leader entrusted with preserving all that is great while forging an impactful future. These memories fill me with gratitude, especially as I think about the inspiring work our dedicated staff does daily.

This has been an exciting year of growth and continuous improvement at High Watch. We’re proud to share that we are the only treatment center in the country that has trained our clinicians in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a state-of-the-art therapeutic approach. In addition, we recently launched a new recovery program specifically for healthcare professionals. Many who provide care for others often struggle themselves. Through this program, we hope to reduce the stigma and shame they face while offering the tools they need to succeed personally and professionally.

We’re also thrilled to share that High Watch is on track to earn the "recovery-friendly workplace" stamp of approval. We actively support employees in recovery and firmly believe that recovery is a strength, not a weakness.

In other exciting news, Wilson’s Café in Kent is busier than ever, and we’re continuing to expand employment opportunities for our alumni as they transition from High Watch and look to expand Wilson’s footprint.

Our alumni program and continuing care services have allowed us to stay closely connected with our alumni, ensuring they receive the ongoing support they need. This year, we’ve celebrated many joyous milestones in sobriety.

Perhaps the most significant news is that High Watch has combined operations with Alina Lodge in Blairstown, NJ! This partnership will extend our reach and serve even more individuals needing recovery. High Watch and Alina enjoy a rich shared history, legacy, and belief system, and combined, bring over 150 years of treatment experience to those in need.

With a mission focused on treatmentadvocacy, and education, High Watch and Alina Lodge continue to support Exchange Events, the flagship of which is The Global Exchange Conference (GXC). GXC brings together mental health professionals, addiction treatment experts, and wellness advocates to network and learn from world-class speakers on the latest developments in recovery.

As we reflect on the year, we are deeply grateful for your ongoing support of our mission. Together, we are changing lives and making a difference in the recovery community.

From all of us at High Watch, we wish you a very happy and peaceful holiday season.

Gratefully,

MEET DIESEL

We’re excited to introduce Diesel, the newest addition to our Equine Assisted Learning Program. As the youngest member of the herd, Diesel is curious, intelligent, and full of energy. He’s a purebred Arabian, and we know he’ll thrive in our guests' and staff's care and affection. 💙 We can't wait to see the positive impact Diesel will have on everyone he meets!

THE JOY OF GIVING

We believe the longer someone stays in treatment, the better their chance of long-term recovery. Our outcomes research shows this to be true. That is why we created the Extended Stay program. After completing a thirty-day recovery program and demonstrating a commitment to recovery, guests are invited to apply for the extended care program. If accepted, they stay at no cost to the guests, fully supported by philanthropy.

The Extended Stay program, one of several impactful programs at High Watch, is fully supported by philanthropy. Thanks to the generosity of people like you, we can do this.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to our Joy of Giving campaign. Giving back feels good and is good for your health! It’s a proven fact that helping others eases depression and anxiety. “There is no better exercise for your heart than reaching down and helping to lift someone up.”

Thank you for sharing the tools of recovery with others. You can donate HERE.
