The Chamber will reopen during regular business hours on Monday, July 7th.

Pa. lawmakers miss state budget deadline again, say talks are 'progressing'
Tyler Jeski, Harrisburg CBS 21
July 1, 2025
Pennsylvania Senate leaders said progress is being made on the 2025 state budget. However, the budget has missed the deadline to pass at the end of June again. CBS 21's Joel D Smith spoke with Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman, and Senate Minority Leader Jay Costa this week. Both senators said their teams have been speaking about what will be in the final budget. They also highlighted some pieces of the budget bill that have already been delivered and signed by Governor Josh Shapiro. Which include funding for the state's judicial system and the workers' compensation system, among others. The senators also said that they expect to see the budget pass in the coming weeks. Sen. Costa said he thinks the budget could be done by mid July. "Whether it's July 1st or July 25th, I really don't think these next few weeks are going to have any discernable impact on the people of Pennsylvania," said Senator Pittman. Governor Shapiro, who originally proposed a $51 billion spending plan, said on Monday that his office has also been involved in the budget negotiations, and he believes something is going to get done soon.

Did you know........
Small businesses represent the largest segment by number of most local chamber membership rolls. Results in the research study by The Shapiro Group, Inc. and Market Street indicate the impact of local chamber membership on small businesses is very powerful. If a consumer knows a small business is a member of its local chamber, the business enjoys a 44 percent increase in its consumer favorability rating, a 51 percent increase in consumer awareness, a 57 percent increase in its local reputation and a 63 percent increase in the likelihood that consumers will patronize the business in the future.
Research indicates that chamber membership stimulates business-to-business commerce in the local community. Other businesses in town are more likely to do business with you and your company if you are a member of the local chamber. Because a major part of a small business typically comes from business-to-business services, it is essential to maintain a positive standing within the local business community.
