Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML)

Starting in January 2026, Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML) will ensure Minnesotans can take the time they need to be there for some of life's most important moments like welcoming a child, recovering from a serious illness, or caring for a loved one. As a provider, MRCI is required to provide all workers with the notice Every employee needs to review and sign off on the document. This required document needs to be signed and returned prior to December 1, 2025.

On November 14th, MRCI sent all workers a notice with a link to sign an acknowledgement for the PFML, please encourage your workers to review, sign and return to MRCI by December 1st. MRCI has elected to go with the state system for workers who need to apply PFML. MRCI will not make a determination on who is or is not eligible for the paid leave, that is up to the State Department.

To find out more on the rules surrounding PFML, please visit the Minnesota Paid Leave website. As a reminder, the PFML is a Minnesota State law, workers cannot opt out. A tax will be applied to all budgets of .44% and all workers will see a .44% tax on their paychecks as well starting January 1st

EVV Compliance

Starting January 1st, the Department of Human Services (DHS) is requiring all direct care workers to be in compliance with Electronic Visit Verification (EVV). Compliance means live-in caregivers must interact with the system once daily, entering time worked. Non-live-in caregivers must clock in and out at each shift and have the location setting on within the Cashe or Pavillio app. MRCI will be contacting workers and Participants/Participant’s Representatives each pay period if workers are not in compliance. Failure to meet the DHS requirement of compliance could result in payroll disruption. If you have questions regarding EVV or compliance standards, please connect with your program staff.

Case Manager Recognition

Direct Support Professionals (DSP's) are a pillar of Disability Services. They serve a crucial role in the lives of those they serve at MRCI, and we want to recognize them!

Please click the button below to nominate a DSP. We will randomly select one DSP a month and present them with a certificate and small gift.

Congratulations to this month’s winner! We are excited to celebrate the incredible work of Izzy Blackmon! Thank you for all you do! Your hard work and dedication make a huge difference, and we truly appreciate everything you contribute to our mission.

Case Manager Recognition

Case Managers play a vital role in supporting individuals and coordinating care that empowers those we serve at MRCI. Their dedication and compassion make a lasting impact and we’re proud to recognize them!

Congratulations to last month's Case Manager Recognition winner! We celebrated the outstanding work of Jennie Janovsky pictured with Director of Unit Based Services Brittney Schloesser! We’re grateful for your dedication and the positive impact you make in the lives of others!

This month, instead of spotlighting one individual, we want to shine a light on every single member of the MRCI team. Each member of MRCI plays a role in making the magic of our mission possible: creating opportunities, fostering independence, and building stronger communities. Their dedication, compassion, and at times creativity are what set MRCI apart. Working directly with participants, supporting from behind the scenes, and engaging with partners are transforming lives and shaping brighter futures. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible staff and to each person we have the privilege to serve. Together, we make the mission happen every day.

As the year ends, we reflect on what matters most; family, community, and making a difference. Year-end giving creates lasting impact. Your generosity helps MRCI support individuals with disabilities and those facing barriers to employment, independence, and inclusion. Read More Here!

Would you rather…

Last month we asked:

Would you rather cook the entire Thanksgiving meal or do all the dishes after the meal?

The results are in... 53% of people said they would cook the meal themselves, and 47% said they would do all the dishes after the meal!

Stay tuned for next month’s “Would You Rather” results!
