At an attempt at equity, I offer a free 20 min Q&A webinar three or four times a year. And, this is one of them! I hope this brings a little cheer to students and teachers right before the holiday break!
When: Dec 9, 2021 01:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Topic: Q&A with Grace Lin!
Guidelines
- All participating students must have read at least one of Grace’s books.
- The questions should be prepared and sent ahead of time.
- Please do not record Grace’s Zoom sessions.
-
This will be a Q&A session, we suggest that you share one of Grace's drawing or reading videos before or after the webinar to give the students a full experience.
-
For personally signed books, we suggest purchasing at Grace’s local bookstore High Five Books or the Carle Museum Bookstore and she can sign the books before they are shipped out.

As a child, it was winning 4th place in a bookmaking competition that made me decide to become an author (you can hear all about that in the video)! So, I hope this competition inspires some new authors as well!

This is an important book that I worked on as a consultant and I’m so glad it will be out in the world. It’s an important story about a young man who challenged the Supreme Court for his right to be an American citizen, won and set the precedent for birth-right citizenship in the United States.

School Visits!
Look at this awesome Jade Dragon created by students of the school I was lucky to get to visit (virtually)! Thanks so much Hindley School!
I am starting to schedule in-person visits for 2022, but in-person events will be limited so I can finish writing more books! ☺️
If your school does not have the budget to have me, please sign up for my free webinar above! And if that doesn't work out, there are always my videos...

I always interweave bits of Chinese culture relevant to my books into the drawing lesson, so these are great supplements to my books.

In the World of Podcasts!
|
|
The Kids Ask Authors podcast recently celebrated its 100th episode! We turned the tables and instead of kids asking authors a question, six authors asked six real kids from our Kid Book Review Club a question! Listen to Shannon Hale, Mitali Perkins, Linda Sue Park, Jenni Holm, Kekla Magoon, and Linda Sue Park join in on the fun!
We are always collecting submissions from kids! If you know a kid that has something to share, please encourage them! We’d love to hear from them!
Submit a kid book review, poem, short story or joke HERE!

Beverly Cleary. Jerry Pinkney. Lois Ehlert. Tomie DePaola. Eric Carle. Patricia Reilly Giff. Floyd Cooper. Norton Juster. Gary Paulsen. And more. The children’s book world lost so many greats in 2021 and because of that the Book Friends are putting together a very special episode in tribute of them.
Please be a part of it! Record your memory of a beloved author that passed—it can be meeting them, a correspondence or just how their work touched you and we’ll play it on the Book Friends Forever podcast!

I went as a lobster for Halloween! My daughter (Katara from the Last Airbender) was only slightly embarassed to be seen with me!
|
|
And that's it!
Even though we are rushing towards the holidays, I hope you are able to enjoy it! Wishing you the best for this season!
See you at Lunar New Year with crafts and fun tidbits about the upcoming Year of the TIGER!
Best, Grace
